How can I download still phots from my camera?

Photo problem

I have an HTC One. My problem is with downloading still photos from the camera. The videos are fine, I can open them fine on my PC.

The still photos look like a funny file type which will not open. I have not deleted the still photo files from the HTC One hoping there is a solution.

What I did was uninstall HTC Sync manager, and tried taking more still shots. The situation remains unchanged. If I delete all the still shot files, and take new photos, would this improve?

Welcome to Android Central! How are you transferring the photos to your computer? I suggest connecting via USB and using Windows Explorer to drag and drop the photos from the phone to the computer's hard drive. Try that instead of using HTC Sync or the Import Photos option in Windows Explorer.
