Why isn't my HTC One being recognized on my computer?

Hi,

When I used to connect my HTC One to my PC by USB, it would pop up under 'My Computer' and 'Internal Storage', and I'd be blissfully free to drag and drop pictures and music back and forth between the two.

NOW when I do the same, under 'My Computer' I'm left with an E drive which asks me to insert and disc and a 'HTC One' option that is treated as a camera by the computer and shows me nothing. No access to files; desperately frustrating.

I do not want to use the god awful HTC sync.

Hello there, welcome to the forums!

Are you using windows 8?
I've heard problems like this before with other phones and windows 8.

I'll ask the other ambassadors to see if they know more about this.

Welcome to the forums. Have you tried updating your drivers for the HTC?

SOLVED.

I downloaded the below driver (unfortunately can't post a link) and have all the access back without HTC Sync.
