Why is my HTC One M7 randomly freezing?

HTC One M7 random freezing

My M7 keeps randomly freezing while in use. It can happen when using pretty much any app, rarely making a call, texting, on the internet etc. When it freezes it keeps trying to reboot and keeps freezing till I manually shut it down for 10 - 20 minutes then restart it.

Broke down and did a factory reset the other night and tried only installing the bare necessities of apps back on after but problem persisted after a few hours. Warranty is gone so I'm wanting to do all the troubleshooting I can on my own before breaking down and paying for repairs.

Any possible ideas, advice or anything on what could be causing it and ways to go about fixing it?

Either the OS is corrupted or there's a hardware failure. Since you already did a factory reset, reflash the stock ROM, then re-download the apps, don't install them from a backup.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd suspect the motherboard first.
