On XDA Developers site, I found a simple way to Root a Verizon HTC One M8 using the jcase's Weaksauce exploit. Its quick, simple and easily reversible. Follow the link for further information:

Using jcase's Weaksauce exploit to Root your Verizon HTC One M8 is a very simple process:

    1. Using the link in the original post, download Weaksauce to your Verizon HTC One M8 (its at the bottom of the original post under "Attached Files"
    2. From your Downloads folder on your M8, select the Weaksauce zip file
    3. Select the Weaksauce apk file, and allow the Package Installer to run. (For this to run you must go into your Settings>Security and check "Unknown Sources"
    4. Once it says App Installed, select Open and Agree to the Disclaimer.
    5. You will see a notification on your screen that "Root is Activated".
    6. That's it! You are Rooted.
    7. In Google Play, download and install the SuperSU app.
    8. Now you can install other apps that require Root access, like Titanium Backup, GMD apps, etc.

One thing to keep in mind is that everytime you reboot your device it will take an extra 1 or 2 minutes for Weaksauce to do its thing for your device to be rooted. It does it automatically. You do NOT have to redo Steps 1-8 again.

If for some reason you want to Unroot and go back to Stock, it is also very simple.

    1. Uninstall any apps that require root.
    2. Uninstall SuperSU app
    3. Uninstall Weaksauce app
    4. Reboot.
    5. Done.

Worked but the SU app had a glitch loading the binaries, and in turn rendered one of my favorite apps (Radio FM) useless for some reason.

Hmmmm, maybe uninstall and reinstall it. If you still have problems reboot.

It's the risk we take when messing with the phone. Any idea if we can get the extreme power saving mode on the Verizon phone with root?

You've already voided your warranty with root, so go for S-OFF, unlock the bootloader and install TWRP. There are a plethora of ROMs that provide EPS mode. I'm using ViperOne(M8) on my phone, and it is absolutely amazing in its customizability and feature set. I thought the M8 was a pretty amazing phone as stock, but alternate ROM choices provide a whole new world of feature upgrades.

Would the weak sauce method be appropriate for me? I don't have any experience rooting (this is my first Android phone) and all I really would like to do is remove some of the bloatware and begin to learn about rooting and the in's and out's of the whole process. Plus I am really scared of brick in my phone, I really can't afford to replace it right now. How likely is it to brick using weak sauce?

Thanks for the encouragement. Would it allow me to remove the bloatware?

Sorry to ask what may be a stupid question for you rooters but, why should I root my VZW M8? I love sense 6, I disabled bloat ware apps that I could, my battery life is unbeatable, performance is outstanding... Not against gaining full control just want to know:

    1. If I root and need support, can I undo and not be void?

    2. Details - what do I REALLY get from rooting?

Again, just looking for a good reason other than.. Because I can lol. As an extreme IT professional, I'm all about... Because i can 😎 but...I love this phone and just not sure how rooting makes it better...???

Apologies for repeating but... I need a good reason before I take this plunge.... Help?

    Thanks!
