Unhappy Blank screen after completing some steps in getting CM11 M9

So I was trying to get CM11 M9 on my HTC One M8. I put the boot.img in my sdk tools, put the 4.4.4 and gapps zip folders in my sd card root, created a nandroid backup, and entered these commands:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    C:\Users\Jacob\Downloads\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140702\adt-bundle-windows-x
    86_64-20140702\sdk\tools>fastboot flash boot boot.img
    < waiting for device >
target reported max download size of 1830711296 bytes
    sending 'boot' (11214 KB)...
    OKAY [ 1.194s]
    writing 'boot'...
    OKAY [ 0.637s]
    finished. total time: 1.831s

    C:\Users\Jacob\Downloads\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140702\adt-bundle-windows-x
    86_64-20140702\sdk\tools>fastboot reboot
    rebooting...

    finished. total time: 0.013s
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now my screen is blank and I'm worried my device is done for.
    Help?

    -jdsank

UPDATE: I have fixed the issue. A simple adb reboot bootloader fixed it. Thanks to everyone who replied!

Why didn't you just flash the M9 via recovery?

I followed a guide saying I had to fastboot reboot before wiping data and flashing.
Also I'm kinda a noob when it comes to flashing ROMs.

Are you S-Off? What carrier? And what guide? If you're unlocked/S-off you can flash custom ROMs/kernels via recovery all day long. If you don't understand what any of this means, you might want to wait and do some more research. I'd hate for you to end up with a paperweight because you didn't take your time.

I've never heard of anyone flashing a boot.img to flash a custom rom? I'm definitely interested if you could provide a link to the guide you used.

Quick question... Do you have to be S-off to flash custom roms? I flashed a CM11 nightly and ViperOne 1.8.0 with S-on...

I fixed the issue. Just had to enter in an ADB command (adb reboot bootloader)
Oh and btw, I did root with weaksauce and turned s-off with firewater, so no harm there. Thanks for the reply!

The guide was an IBTimes article on the HTC One M8. I fixed the issue though.

Back in the day of the 3D and the 4G LTE when s-on you had to flash the boot img through fastboot for a while. Then came the app Flash Image GUI which would do it for you . And then came a script we could use in the updater.
