Error when upgrade Android Kikat 4.4.4 from 4.4.3

Hi guys,

My HTC one M8 has been rooted and I have TWRP 2.7.0.2 installed on it.
I was trying out to install the new Android version Kitkat 4.4.4 but it ended up with an error as below

file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/build.prop": No such file or directory
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/external_sd/Android 4.4.4/OTA.zip'
Error flashing zip '/external_sd/Android 4.4.4/OTA.zip'

Any ideal to help me out will be really appreciated.

You cant use a OTA while you have a custom recovery. You need to be completely stock..

Hi there,

I'm actually a newbie with Android Ecosystem. Can you explain what "Stock" means and how can i do that?
I did rooted Rom's boot loader on my phone and also checked that I had root privilege with SuperSu App.

Stock means the standard version of the android OS that ships with your phone. E.g the android system that was initially on your phone. You will have to find a stock HTC jellybean download for the M8 and flash that onto your phone to get it back to 'stock' and then once you have done that you should be able to update using OTA.

I'm not sure if being rooted will affect the updates as well though. Someone else will have to confirm this.

I was managing to find the stock HTC__044 but really confused when there are a couple of stocks for my cidnum: HTC__044 as following
1.29.707.3 R HTC Asia SEA WWE (cidnum: HTC__044)
1.29.707.16 R HTC Asia SEA WWE (cidnum: HTC__044)
2.24.707.1 HTC Asia SEA-WWE (cidnum: HTC__044)
4.20.707.6 HTC Asia SEA-WWE (cidnum: HTC__044) (without HTC India!)
5.12.707.3 HTC Asia SEA WWE (cidnum: HTC__044)
Then i decided to get the first one which is a .img file. Is it the right one for me? Finally i stopped at this step just because i have no idea how to restore my phone with this file. Sorry again I'm really new in Android.
Anybody can help me out?
