Hi Guys n Gals,

Recently got my HTC One M8 and loving it so far. Had an S5 before and rooted and loved it, so decided to bite the bullet and root my HTC One M8. All was well and phone was working fine. Read about the 5.0 Lolipop update being available for my phone, so wanted to try it out.

Went through the UNROOT process following this guide: theunlockr.com/2014/06/08/how-to-unroot-the-htc-one-m8-video/

All went well. I then proceeded to try and instlal the new OTA 5.0 update but was presented with the TWR bootloader, so found out that I need to flash the stock recovery. Used this guide to flash stock recovery: andromods.com/download-files/htc-one-m8-stock-recovery-verizon-sprint-att-tmobile.html and downloaded stock recovery from here: androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=24260 I was told to download recovery_4.16.401.10.img, not sure if it's right as there is about 8 different stock recovery files to choose from!?

Flashed it onto my phone and all appeared OK. Downloaded the OTA via the phone and proceeded to install it, all looked good, phone rebooted and started the process (could see a loading bar and the android guy) BUT then I get this:

Tried several times but keep getting the same thing.

Anyone understand what the issue is or what I have or what I am doing wrong?

I really appreciate your help on this, really want to play with Lolipop

What carrier version of the M8 do you have? It seems to me that you flashed a firmware zip that was for a different model.

Hi Nexus_htc_ps,

Thanks for replying.

The phone was originally locked to Orange UK but I got it unlocked so I could run my Vodafone UK SIM.

So phone is currently unlocked.

If you could point me in the right direction for the correct firmware, that would be awesome!

Ok so maybe it's just the recovery that is wrong on it. Next post will be the link with the correct recovery. After flashing the recovery always perform command: fastboot erase cache

Installed the 'correct' recovery ROM and managed to install the new Lollipop update, loving it!

Hi Guys! I'm super new here; I got a similar message on my htc m9 on the recovery screen and I have no idea what's wrong :'( as I haven't even attempted to root my phone or unlock my bootloader. (I ended up here after typing in the first line of the error message I received)

I have a very basic understanding of root procedure as I have actually only done this once on my old device which went well. As a result, I have a very very mediocre understanding of fastboot/adb so if the solution involves this then can you try to explain it very basically? Thank you so very much in advance. This is the message I have:

Hey. I have the same problem on my M8 and I can see that your solution worked. Could you tell me where I could find the correct stock recovery? I already had a hard time unrooting the device and finding this recovery and now it doesn't even work.

So the error says:

or htc/htc_asia_india/htc_m8:5.0.1/LRX22C/454154.8:user/release-keys
