Has anyone rooted and been able to get SD to function as it did before 4.4.2 update?

If only rooting does not solve this, will a ROM like CM do it?

I've heard on other sites that HTC has baked in some further hinderance to getting the SD functioning normally.

Rooting will allow you to install roms with things that work around the KitKat gimping they did with SD cards. Currently I run ARHD 3.4 I believe is the version number, and it has a mod baked in pertaining to the SD card

So you have rooted the M8 and with a new ROM overcome the limitations on sd use? So apparently there's nothing inherent to the M8 that prevents this?

It's harsh to know that you have to root a brand new top of the line Android phone now to get your microSD to function normally.
