I haven't used the M8, but for my use, the other features on other phones trumps the speakers. The camera on the M8 was an improvement over the M7, but phones like the Z2, S5 and 5S are still better in my opinion

Better is subjective. What we all are trying to get across is that it is comparably capable. In certain situations other phone cameras may be better, in other situations the m8 will be better. Strengths and weaknesses, every phone camera has them...

Too bad marketing isn't hTc's strongest suit. I bought the M7 last year twice so and only returned my M8 because had issues with Mac but now that I know it works (after restarting Mac) I will but it again tomorrow.

Take the sim out of the M8 and put it in another phone, use sim adaptor if necessary.

Because I like the Note 3 screen size and the swappable battery :P.. But those are my needs.... other than that I agree the M8 is great.

I really enjoyed my M7 when I had it.

The more I use the M8 the more I love it, the battery last me all day and with my 5s I would have to carry a portable charger with me. The size and feel is great, a little slippery I felt so I put an incipio feather shine case on it and problem solved. HTC really did a great job!

The volume buttons are really sensible, you need to pick up your phone with out touching then otherwise it will mess up your sound profile.
I've switched from the iPhone 5, and took me a week to get used to.

    Am I the only one?

No issues yet regarding video. Gotta tell ya, the more I use this device the more I'm thinking I won't want/need to root and Rom it. It's been a real joy to use. My Nexus 5 and iFruit5S are safely tucked away for now.

It's all just opinion. There is no "best". It's what's best for the individual. For some, it's the Moto X, Nexus 5, or M8. For me, it is the Nexus 5. Boom sound, and a better camera don't justify spending $700 for a phone. I take very few pics, and use bluetooth speakers at home and in the car. To each their own.
