Default M8 via Custom ROM - Bye bye onscreen buttons!

Finally have all 5inches of screen space. Not big into rooting, but Android revolution is just like stock. Used the GMD app to hide the Nav buttons. This phone is perfect now!

I love that. I'm S-offed and have been waiting for a reason to flash again.

this is one of the best tutorials I have seen. Sorry Mods, didn't mean to make this a root thread.

This is the only reason I'm considering rooting. I've already downloaded ARHD, it's just sitting on my sd card being me to root and flash it.

How does that app work without nova? I don't like 3rd party launchers so I plan to use Sense.

rooted and using talk this app works great. the only thing bothering me about the M8 was that bar and now it is gone except when I want it to be there. Thanks for the heads up.

Is it just me or can you only pull up the soft keys in landscape in camera mode?

I rooted with Weaksauce, installed Super SU and GMB and it works well except in camera mode. In camera mode the quickbar disappears and there's no way to exit out of camera mode except to restart the phone.

Try holding it in landscape exactly how you would to take a picture and then try to pull up the soft keys.. it works for me.

Good, hopefully they will update it to work in portrait mode for this phone. I even did a review for GMB to bring up this problem, and I rarely review apps.

There's also another alternative to GMD called Ultimate Dynamic NavBar that I find works better for me than GMD's solution.

Did you try the pro version of GMD vs. it?

Also..if this isnt something you want to do...If you are rooted with Xposed installed, the team behind Sense6 Toolbox just put out the official version here

[MOD][XPOSED] Sense Toolbox - The Answer to all your HTC Sense modding needs - Page 5 - xda-developers

It will not hide the nav buttons like GMD but you can resize it to a more manageable size

Ended up uninstalling GMD because it started being unresponsive and it was cumbersome because to use it required more touches of the screen.

I had the same issue with GMD. Though, I haven't tried the Pro version, I simply switched to Ultimate Dynamic NavBar and it has been pretty good so far. I'm sure the more I use it, the more I'll find little nuances/annoyances with this one too.

But, its worth the try if you are still looking for something similar.

I tried Ultimate Dynamic and it wasn't as good as the pro version of GMD (my opinion, of course).

Guess I'm the only one who doesn't care about the on screen buttons?
