Default dust under ff camera lens

Anyone else notice specs of stuff under front lens? I can't wipe it off so it must be underneath..

What should I do? I have only had the phone for 2 weeks so I'd hate to see how bad this thing gets a year from now..

Honestly, if anyone other than HTC rips open this phone for repairs, the warranty is pretty much void.

Try taking some pictures with the front-facing camera. If the dust under the lens doesn't appear, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It seems like to small of an issue to send the phone in/exchange it. Do you take a lot of pictures/video chat using the front-facing camera a lot?

I had a similar problem with my HTC Rezound (with the back camera), and that phone had a removable back, so I was able to remove the lens cover and clean it manually...

Doesn't seem to effect the quality of pictures but it looks ugly and is only going to probably get worse. Also I did the att next ripoff deal and was told from someone else that att requires the phone to be in perfect condition in order to upgrade early.. So I don't think this would be considered "perfect condition"

In order to grasp the situation fully, would you be able to take a picture of the front-facing camera showing the dust? Again, I don't think it is a problem that needs to be brought to the attention of HTC if the quality of the photos goes untouched.

Something like this (in my opinion) would not void that 'deal' with AT&T, as this is a problem concerning dust particles in the camera lens, and not any structural damage to the phone itself (I am not on AT&T and am not familiar with this 'deal').

True. I probably won't worry about since its not bad yet and doesn't hurt camera quality but was curious if my m8 was the only one like this. If so then mine would be considered defective imo. And possibly only going to get worse.

You've only had the phone two weeks...is it possible that the dust under the lens is how you received the phone?

It's possible but I'm very picky and ocd with my phones lol. I always look super close in the dark for dead pixels, and backlight bleeding. Also look for factory gaps, or any other kind of flaws so I would have think I would've seen it but I'm not perfect so possibly could have overlooked it. If it gets worse after my exchange warranty through AT&T runs out , I'll break the screen and get a free replacement in the first 6 months through HTC.

I know that would be kind of bad to do but it wouldn't be my fault about the dust. That's HTC fault. So gotta do whatever it takes.

But if it doesn't get worse I'll be fine with it.

    That's a bit overkill

Wouldn't say that. That's an HTC manufacture defect. When you pay for a 700 dollar item it should be defect free. So that would be their fault. If the dust got bad enough and they refuse to fix their problem, then why wouldn't I do whatever it takes? Like I said, I hate to be that way but good customer service would take care of the problem. We will see in time.

I've noticed on my front camera it wasn't so much dust but rather looked like a coating was coming off. Granted it made my photos look real blurry and crappy. I took a few selfies from a state park with an view point behind me on Friday and that's how I knew.

I used a microfiber cloth and wiped it and even sprayed a small dot of electronics glass cleaner on the microfiber cloth and wiped it and it seems to have removed that look i described on the lens. Now I just have a think back line around it.

For anyone who thinks I'm bad for saying that is wrong. I just figured out what caused the dirt under lens. I was rubbing my finger over screen and speaker grill and felt a huge lip on the speaker grill sticking way out past the screen.

So I didn't know what it would do, so I pushed the speaker grill down and now it's flush... Now I'm kinda pissed, cause if I knew it would raise up more I would've blew the dirt out.

    What to do??

I have the exact same problem. Only got the phone last month and even noticed after a week or so that there were loads of tiny white specs under the front facing camera glass. There's even more dust there now, and I wouldn't be exposed to particularly dusty environments or anything like that. Picture quality has been drastically reduced in the space of a few weeks, photos appear hazy, or dull. There is quite a big difference in picture quality between when I got the phone, and today. Any insight on this would be much appreciated!

Here's a picture of it to show you what it looks like! (and yes, the dust is under the glass)

My phone is 2 months old, and I have this exact problem too. Dust under the lens and all the pictures taken by the front camera now appear cloudy or hazy.

Have any of these cases been resolved by HTC? I am going to send my phone in through my service provider, but I do not want them to just clean it out and have more dust collect under it again in another month or 2.
