Default HTC One M8 Google Play Edition

Does the M8 GPE, or any of the GPE phones for that matter, work on Verizon's network? I'm considering the M8 GPE if it does work on Verizon or possibly the GS5 GPE or G3 GPE if those come out. TIA

Not the OS, but the hardware itself. That is what determines if the phone will work on Verizon...

So do any of the GPE phones have the hardware to work on Verizon? It doesn't really specify on the Google play website where you buy the phones.

    Verizon Specs

    Network: LTE Band 13/4 (700/1700 MHz), CDMA/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz)
    Global Network: EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA/UMTS (850/900/1900/2100)

    GPE Specs

    Network
    Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+/LTE
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSPA/UMTS quad-band 850/AWS/1900/2100 MHz
    3G (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
    HSDPA 21, HSUPA 5.76
    4G LTE (700 MHz, AWS)

From what I see on the two specs, it looks like it will work on Verizon's re-farmed areas. But I don't really know, maybe someone who does will come along.

I chatted online with a rep from the GPE store and he told me none of the GPE phones are compatible with Verizon. Oh well. Maybe the GS5 or G3 will be. I doubt it though.

I could be wrong, but I do not believe Verizon allows you to bring devices to their network. You must use a device purchased from them.

Lots of misinformation on this thread. The bottom line is if Verizon doesn't sell it , it won't work on their network period.

That is because they are cdma and this is a GSM phone. But LTE I'd a GSM technology, so therefore their LTE phones have SIM cards.

Verizon will not permit the phone to operate on its network. You should also use a Verizon M8 to make sure that you have the appropriate bands that were designed for their network.

If you would like a Google Play Edition Verizon M8, you can flash the GPE ROM onto your M8. The Verizon M8 has already been rooted and you can unlock the bootloader and go S-Off. If I recall, from my last trounce through the XDA forums, the GPE ROM not only works like it is supposed to, but it permits you to install all the neat little extras that take full advantage of the camera, etc. Essentially, you won't have to compromise anything to get what you desire.

    Good luck making your decision.

Thanks for all the replies. Man Verizon really sucks lol. They have great service but everything else about them is not good. Not sure what I'll do now. Didn't really want to root and flash Roms. Haven't done that since the galaxy nexus days. Just don't really have the time anymore to keep up with all that. Maybe I will though...
