Slightly off topic, but what is the advantage of the Amazon store vs. the stock Google Play store? N00b question...

What's going on? I'm trying to re-enable the Amazon App Store but it won't show up in the app drawer.

Did you perhaps hide it at some point (not disable in menu, but hide in app drawer)? Try rebooting after re-enabling... if that doesn't do it, uninstall it and reinstall.

The only perk is that paid apps are sometimes free. I no longer look at the "free app of the day", but I do keep up here at AC and read the stories that mention the Amazon store specials. Gentle alarm and quite a few decent games for the kids I have gotten free, which is nice.

Isn't Amazon App store proprietary to kindles only? I used to work for Amazon as a kindle/may day support specialist and have no idea why anyone would want to use it over the google play store. Amazon apps/kindle apps are modified to work with kindles.

The Amazon app store has far more than just Kindle apps... it has pretty much all the apps Play Store does (that are worth buying). There is just little reason to get them from there. Unless they are free. Just today there was an article here on AC about 30 free apps. Root Explorer was on that list, along with Plex... too bad I had already purchased them, but this sort of thing happens several times a year. It is worth having the store there, so you can get the freebies that are worth it.

The apps work just fine on non-Amazon devices. Sometimes they have exclusives, I think Plants vs. Zombies was on the Amazon App store before it was on Google Play.

The free apps are nice but I got tired of keeping up with two stores, I prefer to stick with one source for my apps now.
