Why isn't my camera allowing me to take pictures of items farther away, only close up ones?

camera not working correctly

I went to use my camera and the photos are dim and unable to scan/zoom into another subject except it only seems to pick up a close item and not onto the farther item i am trying to take a photo of.Anyone have a solution?

Re: camera not working correctly

Welcome to Android Central! In the Camera app, tap the Menu button, then look to see if it says "Auto" at the top of the options, or if you see a flower icon, which means it's set to Macro. Macro mode is for focusing up close, like if you were taking a close up shot of a butterfly on a flower--it makes other detail blurry. If you see the flower icon, tap it, then select Auto.
