App cache is saving images in Gallery

Several apps, including Sky Sports, were saving images to Gallery. I have solved part of the problem by putting an empty file named .nomedia in the root directory of offending apps that I can identify and then clearing the Gallery cache. However, there are still a large number of images of Flags of the World but I don't know which app is creating them. Does anyone have any ideas?

They could be from a social app, as an example, when I installed Tango all its icons were shown on my M8's gallery.
