Making use of the new smart lock feature in lollipop is a bit of an obscure affair. It took some actual digging for me to figure out.

For the benefit of those who might still be wondering how to do it:

Settings>Security>Trust agents

Toggle smart lock on and then press back (back into security settings). There should now be an entry third from the top called smart lock that allows you to configure it.

Yep, that Trust Agent thing isn't always turned on by default. Thanks for the tip!

Not obvious, and as I said in the Lollipop thread, it didn't work when I selected my previously set Home based on my postcode. I had to create a custom trusted place with GPS turned on. It's probably best to do this, as some postcodes are quite large, and the trusted range quite short.

It worked for me and was fairly simple to set up. I have places stored on my Google account (Home, Work, girlfriend's house, etc) for easy access to navigation and it lets me set these places as "Trusted Places" so that I don't have to unlock my phone in these places. It even prompted me to set Home as a trusted place, which I did, and it said that it's accurate to 100 meters - if I'm within 100 meters of home, I'm not too worried about locking my phone. I didn't really have to do anything in Settings since it automatically prompted me, which I really like. Sometimes the Settings screen can be confusing because it's not obvious where certain options are (still MILES ahead of iOS, though), so I like when something has a simple setup that's automatically started by a prompt.
