prevent swipe from starting unlock screen and related woes

Problem : HTC One M8 is locked (pin protected), black screen. A swipe on the screen lights up unlocking screen (asking for unlock PIN). In this screen, the volume buttons are active and the camera may be activated (when in default config, as rightmost icon in the bottom of the screen) without entering the PIN. This means that when the phone is in a shirt or trousers pocket, after a few movements and because of friction it may take dozens of pictures of the interior of said pocket, and if I am unlucky the volume goes to zero and I am unaware of incoming calls.

So is there a way to desactivate the swipe as an 'entering unlock screen' gesture ? And to force the volume buttons to remain inactive until the phone is fully unlocked ?

TIA

Motion launch gestures are turned on. Go to the phone settings, then Displays and Gestures, then into the Motion Launch Gesture settings. In there you can turn them on/off and see what gestures do what.
