Email App not showing downloaded emails, saying to choose a mail provider.

why does my email keep saying choose mail provider

Whenever I try to open my email it goes straight to choose mail provider page

Welcome to Android Central! Did you actually set up the Email app with your email accounts yet? It doesn't happen automatically.

Yeah, the icon says 8 emails unread, but when I press on it is says set up a mail provider.

Hi,

I'm getting notices of emails waiting to be read both on the Mail App icon, and in locked screen hints.
However, I can't get into them because when I tap on my email App icon the phone tells me to "choose a mail provider".
This was after my phone was off for a few hours.
All the desktop icons were missing as well.

Has anybody ran into this problem before?

I merged your threads.

What do you mean that the desktop icons are missing? Do you mean that the homescreen is completely blank, and you're going to the App Drawer to tap on your Email icon?

Did all of your installed apps go away? Does this persist after a reboot?

Are you able to choose your usual email provider when it prompts you?

This has happened to me twice now. I forget how I fixed it the first time!
Currently having this problem.

Please help!
