I have an HTC one s originally on O2 now on a different network (long story!) but I still get the O2 branding page displayed on start-up. Is there any way to get rid of it?

    Yes,

    1. Root
    2. Search the system folders for the logo file
    3. change the file for one you like, or remove it

Similar idea as of removing the boot sound from the Galaxy Ace. I made a video on how to do it. I don't think I'm allowed to post YouTube links here, but just search for the following phrase: "Samsung Galaxy Ace: remove boot sound"

Thanks for that. Just one thing: "root"??? Sorry I'm a noobie at this and not sure what is meant by that term. I'm not a beginner at software though so I'm sure that I won't have a problem once I understandthe semantics
