Should I Root my One X?

Wondering what the benefits to rooting are, also the negatives? also could someone direct me to the easiest route to do so?

right now, i'm stuck with the original version of android that came with my one X, because I decided to root the phone when I got it. I wish I hadn't, because I didn't really want to install custom roms, I just wanted to play around a bit and maybe use titanium backup. Now, I would like to get the latest update to fix wifi issues, but I can't get it to detect an att software update. I even "unrooted". I'm probably going to have to flash the rom manually, which means my phone will be wiped in the process. I wish I hadn't rooted.
