    Default One X question...

    Hello all,

I recently made the jump from iPhone to the HTC One X...love it so far, but when I go back to the home screen from anywhere it takes a bit of time while stating "loading". Is this normal for an android?

    Thanks.

Go into SETTINGS > DEVELOPER OPTIONS, scroll to the bottom and make sure "Don't Keep Activities" is UNCHECKED. back out and let me know if it is still happening...

    Hi TheLizerator,

No, that sounds like it is the Sense overlay crashing and restarting itself and that is not normal. Certain apps or widgets can trigger this behavior. The HTC Calendar widget used to cause this, and for me the Chrome Beta caused it too. After I uninstalled Chrome Beta it hasn't happened again.

I'd recommend doing a phone restart and seeing if that helps. If not, try uninstalling apps and/or removing widgets from the screen to see if you can pinpoint which one is causing the problem.

No idea why this option is causing this lag... I had a galaxy Nexus and turning this option on did not introduce this lag. I have a ticket in with HTC about this issue, Ill report back if I get any answers...

Got the same issue, seems to get worse and longer "loading" wait time the more apps and widgets that I've added. Tried the "Don't keep activities" option but issue still occurs. Very frustrating on what is supposed to be one of the fastest phones out there.

The Chrome Beta made this happen much more often for me. When uninstalled it a couple days ago things got much better.

Just now as an experiment I reinstalled it and almost immediately I started getting LOADING again. If you have Chrome Beta installed, try uninstalling it. If not that, you may want to try uninstalling some of your apps to see if you can figure out which one is making things worse.

I'm pretty loaded up on widgets and apps at this point, so you should be able to improve things.

Except that Chrome Beta doesn't do this on all devices. Could try reseting the device or try reflashing the att stock rom, download is on xda.

Is Chrome beta stock with the phone? I've never installed it and don't see it in any of my running/downloaded/all apps. Have done several reboots and deleted several apps but haven't found the right one yet, I guess.

No, Chrome Beta is not stock to Android 4.0 or the One X. You would have to Download it from the Play Store.

I'm rather surprised that this is happening. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Chrome a couple times now and the behavior is very predictable. I'm running stock Sense, no 3rd party launcher, so my best guess is that another app I've downloaded just isn't getting along with it for some reason. I'd love to use Chrome, it looks quite nice. I'll just have to see if the next version of either the Chrome beta or the OS fixes the issue for me.
