new to android: how to backup contacts on phone to google

hello AC,

i have transferred all my contacts from outlook to my new HTC one x and am looking to back them up to google. i have google contacts set to sync but when i log into google my contact list is blank. i feel like this is very simple, but for whatever reason im missing it. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you for your time.

My guess is you saved all your contacts to your phone and not your google account. When saving a contact on your phone you have to make sure to pick where you want to save... to phone/sim/google account. You can try going into your contacts on your phone go into your settings and copying your contacts to your Google account.

First move your contacts under the "Google account" now go to the "Settings>Account and sync" tap your prefer gmail account and tick "Contacts".
Again tick "Activate auto sync" on "Account and sync" (optional).

YOu can also back them up by using HTC Synch.
