I let my battery drain to zero..until the phone shut off... I recharged it... Now it runs A LOT smoother! Just a fyi to those of u who are experiencing a slow phone. Maybe it'll help u...

Nothing about running the battery to auto shutoff could have fixed anything other than teaching the charge controller chip just how low your battery can go.

It couldn't make your phone run smoother. You maybe killed off some apps that were idling in the background, but a simple reboot would do the same.

Agree with icebike on this one - I think it's more a hard reboot that cleared out you memory. Whenever I reboot my device, it runs a lot smoother afterwards.

I agree with u guys... But at the same time... I now have the forecast in the am feature workin... And noticed a slight increase in reaction time in opening apps and the app drawyer that I didn't notice when doin a reboot.

Lithium-Ion batteries don't get "taught" how low they can go. This does nothing. They have no "memory."

It does nothin for the battery..but it helps to calibrate the battery meter on the phone.

Nobody said anything about teaching the battery. The battery charging controller built into the phone periodically measures charge state, and places the values into registers that the cpu can query. Percent of charge can never be known accurately until the is run to depletion, so until then, the charge controller simple guesses at battery life based on preprogrammed numbers.

Once the controller has seen the battery's built in protection circuit take the battery off line and then see the battery fully recharged it can then provide better estimates of actual battery runtime.

Doing this routinely is not good for your battery, and you are better off charging before your battery gets that low.
