When playing music on my phone & I receive a notification, (whatsapp, mail, sms etc) the audio cracks up / goes silent / generally f's up.

I use the standard stock music player.

I use the phone to play music via normal (non-beats) headphones or I have the phone plugged in via 3.5 to my car / home audio set up. Same issue on all of them.

I disabled beats/sound enhancements & still have the same problem.

Anyone else suffer from this issue?

Any fixes for it?

(o2-uk released an update for the phone last week, which I updated to, had no effect on this issue)

If disabling beats doesn't fix the problem then why are you blaming beats in the title?

I get notifications all the time with beats on, and no problem. So it's probably that other app that is the problem.

What other app? If you mean whatsapp/sms etc. I'm using the standard notifications.

So just to clarify when your notifications come thru. The music actually stops. Notification plays and then music resumes.

I was assuming it would be like other phones I've owned where the music volume just drops to low while the notification gets played.

Having the music stop for a notification is rather annoying.
