want to buy the ONE x tomorrow but few things stopping me
first is the battery life. i need 13h of battery life with atleast 3.5h screen on. i cant charge in the meantime.
my usage is: 1hr of light gaming (mostly stick cricket, fruit ninja, highway rider and temple run), 1hr of web browsing, few image capturing and 30mins of phone call. will the ONE x be able to survive till then?
i am in deep dilemma. i cant and dont want to buy the s3. and there are not even any substitute left for one x.
second is the wifi death grip hardware issue. i know only around 10 percen of the users face this but still. the biggest problem is the battery. i dont need it to last 1day but half a day with that usage. - 07-26-2012, 12:28 AM #2
Re: want to buy the ONE x tomorrow but few things stopping me
The screen is what uses about half of your battery. Sometimes I turn it all the way up just to enjoy it, but the battery gets sucked so fast at that level it's ridiculous. If you keep your brightness at a more moderate level, you will really effect the battery life. Here is a picture of my battery use page.

Re: want to buy the ONE x tomorrow but few things stopping me
Honestly I use my phone a whole lot during the day, and i hzve told other users on the forum that the battery life for this phone is the first one to even get near my old Blackberry. I am getting nearly 2 days with Juice Defender Plus with customized options to tweak the battery usage for my needs.
Without that app, I was still getting a full day without having to rush to a charger. So I would say that with your usage and that app you should be okay IMO...
I dont really know anything about the wifi issue.. so i guess i am unaffected by it... - 07-26-2012, 02:45 AM #4
I sm getting at least 24 hrs out of a charge and have no wifi issues with mu phone.

You do have the return policy in case it doesn't work out for you.
Too many other factors to say what your battery life will be like, but I can say that mine would be adequate for you.Forum Rules & Guidelines -- CLICK HERE

Re: want to buy the ONE x tomorrow but few things stopping me
The International HOX won't last you that long, simple as that. There's no way your getting 3.5 hours screen time with 13 hours battery life, at maximum you'll get around 8 hours of battery life (with 3.5 hours of screen time). Calls also drain a lot of battery despite the sensor turning off the screen, but 30 mins should be ok. You might want to try Skype or Viber, which take up less battery but then the phone gets really hot.
That said, games like Stick Cricket and Riptide are a joy to play on the International HOX, the quad core Tegra 3 chip does a brilliant job -- but again these games seriously drain battery life and the phone gets really hot when playing them.
To be honest, according to what you've mentioned you want, I would recommend you get the One S, the battery life is stellar on that phone, software is exactly the same as HOX, including Sense 4 and camera, and its also lighter and thinner. I'll admit the screen ain't as good as HOX, but its better, or at least on par, with SGS3... Hope that helps. - 07-26-2012, 12:14 PM #8
That's on a single charge. I've gotten 4 hours screen on time with this phone before with about 14 hours of battery life. But I won't say you'll get 4 hours screen on time with 14 hrs straight out of the box. Some light modifications might be necessary.

Sorry I shouldn't of used that word. What I mean is, it's definitely possible to meet your demands, it's all about how you use your phone though. I don't use auto brightness instead I set it to about 30%.I don't keep gps and auto sync on, only use em when I need them. I use the paid version of juice defender and set it to my custom settings. When I'm on wifi i'll turn off mobile network and when I'm on mobile network ill turn wifi off. I'm rooted and I set my cpu control governor to "power save" with rom toolbox. But I'm not sure if that saves battery like I think it does.

Re: want to buy the ONE x tomorrow but few things stopping me
Good advice!... I think Juice Defender is the key, it's one of those apps worth every penny, a true game changer. Having said so, I must agree that 3,5 hours on the international HOX is more than a challenge. Unless the OP is willing to change habits a bit (sounds a bit weird to me, it's like a training regime or something
), then I would recommend the OneS or maybe another phone.

Well, all I can say is from my experience and how I use my phone, the battery life is good and fits my needs. But like someone else already stated there is a return policy. So you'll never truly know if it'll meet your demands until you try it. I say buy it, test drive it for a week. Don't root it because I'm not sure if they'll take it in return (if it doesn't work out or you) if it's rooted.

Re: want to buy the ONE x tomorrow but few things stopping me
I would wait until Sunday because the word is that ATT is going to drop the price to $100. And as you've seen on AC Radio Shack is doing the same thing, so you can bet the other third parties will go even lower (like Amazon)..
I'm also a bit dubious about this phone due to the many problems I've been seeing people have with the hardware, on top of the sealed back, no microSD and poor execution of multi-tasking which is actually done well in stock ICS. It's a shame that HTC didn't do a better job in my opinion. The Atrix HD actually comes close, but also has a sealed back, near stock Android but DOES have a microSD slot, not to mention it can be had for $50 at Amazon.Thanked by: - 07-27-2012, 07:21 PM #16

Hardware problems with the AT&T One X? Every phone has trade-offs.
What country are you in? If you're not in the US why are you looking at the AT&T One X? Wouldn't you have easier access to the International Tegra 3 version? Or are you looking at the One XL?Forum Rules & Guidelines -- CLICK HERE

If you know how to install a custom ROM, buy the One X. If you don't:
If you want a removable battery plus an SD slot, buy the S3
If you are good with a phone that lasts a day or more with a full charge, has less powerful multitasking (multitasking may be much better with Jelly Bean update) but has a far better screen than the S3, in fact the best screen of any current smartphone, buy the One X. If you don't mind using a flash drive for storage than you can forget about the S3's microsd slot as well.
I have both phones, this is my honest advice. No matter which you choose, I guarantee you will be happy with your device, they both rock.

Re: want to buy the ONE x tomorrow but few things stopping me
i know how to install a custom rom without even having one x. i am sure i can. i dont care about storage. 32GB is more than enough. can you tell me how much should be available from this 32GB for user. i dont care about removable battery as long as my phone can last me 13 to 14h with moderate or heavy usage.

I exchanged my Atrix HD for a One X yesterday. My local ATT store dropped the price as soon as I walked in.
The only thing good about the Atrix HD is its screen and feel in my opinion. The phone is really laggy, the camera is carp and the battery life is the worst of any phone I've ever used.
Even with the multitasking issues, the HOX is still the better device when compared to Atrix HD

I am running the International HOX, 13-14hrs with the regime you listed isn't too realistic to be honest. The real problem is how HTC manages power to begin with, most of it goes to the screen by default. 1800mh isn't enough... my advice is to buy a power pack, it fits right on the phone (makes it a little bulky) but will give you the extra juice.

Well, if you know how to I small a ROM, buy the One X. The battery life on the One is excellent, and even better when you Flash an AOKP ROM. Between 2 and 4 gigs will be used depending on which ROM you choose, and you can also plug in a flash drive for extra storage when you need it. With a custom ROM it also has great multitasking that's just as good as the S3.
