    Default One X camera tips....

    hello,

could anybody kindly give some tips i.e settings on how to get the best pics using this phone, my Desire HD seemed to produce better quality pics, I have everything set to auto/default at the minute.

the pics it is producing appear to be some what grainy and of low quality even though it is set to 8mp.

I am using the international version of the OneX

    many thanks

Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by low quality. A sample picture would help a lot. I have to say, that the camera on the one x is the best i've ever seen on a phone.

First thing you do is turn off the widescreen setting. The camera defaults to shooting in 16:9 which means it's not using the entire 8MP sensor to shoot. Changing that to 4:3 will use the whole sensor.

I've found the pictures generally look better on the phone than they do on the computer. To compensate, I have an edit preset on the phone that slightly boosts the saturation and contrast. Also, experiment with different shooting modes. For general outdoors photos, I've found landscape mode to be more vivid and crisp than auto.

The phone seems reluctant to use the flash, and ups the iso to compensate. I turn the flash on manually when needed and it helped my grain problems.

Love this camera only thing I wish it didn't do was blur so easy. Seems you gotta keep camera pretty still.

I found that taking continuous photos helped with the blurring problems. For some reason taking single shots causes more blurring.

Yeah, that's usually what I do and 'keep best shot'. Thought maybe there was another trick. No biggie. Best camera I've had on a phone. The trick is always having to remember to hold the shutter button down to take multiple pics. There's been several occasions where I'm trying to be quick and capture a moment of my son or something and I try and quickly take a picture and get the blurring effect because I quickly snapped a shot.

Quickest. Quicker. There. I've used all variations of 'quick'. My work is done here.

Just how hard are you guys mashing that on screen button to get your shots.

I've had maybe one blurred shot with this camera in the months I've had it.

There are other camera apps in the market that add image stabilization features. You might want to experiment with one or two of them.

I think camera ics has this as well as other features .

do you use camera ics instead of the stock camera app?

i'm undecided because i love the stock app but the file sizes of the images are low.

If only we could use one of the volume buttons as the shutter (with the stock camera app).
