"Finally HTC One X users appear a step closer to receiving an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, with some handsets set to receive the upgrade as soon as next month.

According to Modaco.com, the Jelly Bean update will begin being rolled out to generic unlocked HTC One X handsets before being made available to operator branded versions of the device.

Modaco says that assuming both Google and operators give it the green light, all HTC One X handsets should be upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by Christmas.

Modaco has also reaffirmed expectations that the HTC One X+ will arrive with Jelly Bean, while the HTC One XL, the first 4G handset to be made available on the Everything Everywhere network (now EE), will also be packing the latest version of Android when it becomes available in the coming months.

Sadly there?s no word on any Jelly Bean update for HTC One S users just yet, but with the One X seemingly edging closer we remain hopeful."

Nice scoop tcm1969.

I have an international HOX so I can't wait. But if history is any guide my Asian Market HOX will be the very LAST group to get the update, probably even after AT&T branded devices. The Euro (EMEA) HOXs seem to get things first.

I agree with sdchris. Having used JB on my Nexus 7 since launch, really the only thing missing is Google Now. And as nice as that is, it isn't really that hard to live without it on my phone for another few months.

I'm excited, don't get me wrong, but I'm not exactly on the edge of my seat checking for updates 10 times a day.

I like the improved notifications too. And Project Butter.

With news of the One X getting Jelly Bean soon. I sure do HOPE EVO 4g LTE gets the update quickly too.

I think the ICS version of the Rom works quite decent on my HTC One X, however after coming from my Nexus S which already had Jelly Bean I'm really missing the Google Now functions.

Can we at least mention how the EVO 4G LTE lines up when we talk about the One X?

Can we at least mention how the EVO 4G LTE lines up when we talk about the One X?

I really am starting to get upset with Android Central for always talking about the One X, but never mentioning the SE4L... Is it because it's name is too long... If that's it just do what I did... Just call the "Sprint Evo 4G LTE" the "SE4L" (Pronounced SEAL :))

Find some news about the E4GLTE and get it talked about, then! The linked article was from a guy living in the UK, where there's only the One X, no E4GLTE, and so the guy (who does have some contacts with HTC) probably hasn't got any info about the US-only stuff... Just as he didn't have news about the One S update, which led to some people wrongly assuming and raging that the One S wasn't getting JB.

It's because it's only on Sprint, which means the vast majority of people never had the opportunity to buy it. The One X is available from ATT and carriers all over the world. Honestly, the E4GL is a very obscure phone with a very small community of users.

Perhaps the stock app switcher will be intact this time...?

Of course not... This is Sense :). I wish they would take the chance to put the stock multitasking/memory management back in effect. Having run it stock (CM), there is no performance penalty to doing it the old way, and that app refresh thing IS super annoying.

Hopefully within the next couple of months we will get JB - I know on my Google GN JB runs very smooth ;)
