I know HTC doesn't typically enable host mode in its phones but I'm having some odd results with my One X.

I can connect a thumb drive or USB card reader and the phone recognises those. I know USB storage isn't the same as USB host. It does show that the port is active though. But if I connect a USB dongle for a wifi mouse, the device is recognised and I can use the mouse on the phone. That is, as far as I understand, USB host in action.

If; however, I connect a DSLR camera and open a camera controller app, the app doesn't recognise that the camera is connected to the phone.

Why the difference with various devices?

OS is Android 4.1.1. Either HTC or my cell provider haven't released anything newer yet.

    Thanks.
