If this is really the GS4...

I'm not a big Sammy guy, but I won't deny that the GS3 is a great looking device. Plastic aside, for those here who think plastic is the alloy of Satan, the GS3 is a pretty looking piece of tech. But this? It's not appealing to me at all. The shape is just... WTF? It looks like a GS3 was stretched into a rectangle with hard corners. I know that some Sammy fans say that it looks great, but I have a hard time believing that. I didn't hear a lot of those comments about Sony and LG when they offered a rectangle with four 90-degree corners. If the specs mirror the One (hell, even if they best it here and there) I think it's a no-brainer: the One wins hands down right now. I say that because I could care less about a removable battery. But I will die laughing if the GS4 has a non-removable battery too.
The One is a beautiful work of industrial art. At least until I get it filthy and scratched up a little bit.
Re: If this is really the GS4...
Yeah, I'm not really a fan of the shape either. I was thinking of getting the S4 but if that's what it looks like I might reconsider.
If this is really the GS4...
That is one ugly device. Samsung is really sucking it up in the design front these days. The HTC One looks a million times better!!

That looks like the OG galaxy note.

It's not the GS4. It's what Expansys thinks it might look like.

Glad to hear.

Like you would even know.
Oh wait. You probably do.
Re: If this is really the GS4...
I'm making my decision based on the phone design and materials, also what they've done to polish up touchwiz. Looks like someone in a Junior High tech class designed it.
Re: If this is really the GS4...
Ok, I don't want to say that someone might be wrong because he's just living the life of Riley in sunny and mild Florida, but...

Only things I liked from that picture were the screen size and the home button being gone. Hopefully at least one of those things is true.

Home buttons should have ceased once the GN was introduced. Their continued existence is confounding IMO.

Never agreed more with anything said about home buttons in an Android Central forums during March of 2013 EVER!!!! :)

I find the continued presence of a physical/capacitive menu button on phones like the GS3 to be just as confounding as the home button, if not more so.
Re: If this is really the GS4...
You lost me at "the GS3 is a great looking device."
Re: If this is really the GS4...
I'm not a Samsung fan...but I like this design better than the GS3. This reminds me of the GS2, Note. I dont like the wide corners of the GS3. It just looks too round.
Less bezel at the bottom on this pic. That would mean on screen buttons.... :(
Looking at a pic of the One...its looks like a skinnier version of this pic... I dont get the complaints about the corners...

I didn't want to troll the S4 [Only registered and activated users can see links. Ah, I can't wait for the One to remind us all why HTC is still in the game!

Change "One" to "One X" and you're exactly in the same position last year. Hopefully the One does something for HTC that the One X did not.

That's a good point, though I didn't think the One X had many advantages over the S3 last year. This year I feel like HTC has really given the One something special with the new camera experience, new homepage, and a few very unique designs. Also, it looks like HTC is going to release the One (or something very similar) all over, even killing the EVO. I can't wait.
Re: If this is really the GS4...
I don't think the S4 is going to look exactly like that. That pic looks fake/ugly too ha.
So an ugly fake pic
Re: If this is really the GS4...
I'm a huge fan of my S3, but that render of the S4 looks absolutely ridiculous. Everyone on here (Android Central Forums) talks about "bezels" and how unnatural phones sometimes feel. Whether you like the look or not, the S3 just fits in the hand more naturally than any rectangular device with hard corners ever will. I loved that Samsung took a risk and released a phone with a different appearance than most on the market. I think the HTC ONE looks like a really good phone, but it's nothing different than the shape that a lot of you are bashing with the S4. It might have much better build quality, but the appearance is for all intents and purposes the exact same. And as much as we can love HTC, Samsung, or any other Android manufacturer, be real. The One is just a clone of the back of the iPhone 5. HTC fans are the most vocal about Samsung copying Apple because they are offended by Samsung's success, but there hasn't been an Android phone that so completely copied the Appearance of the iPhone since the Galaxy S.

Well the One X had a superior screen (IMO, I'm sure Kev'O would endorse this as well) and camera. It was also debuted earlier. That sort of killed it, and I can see the exact same thing happening here.
The big downfall for the One, IMO, is the fact it's not on Verizon. You can't dominate like Samsung unless you market like Samsung--and that means every carrier gets the same thing.

That is true, but I wonder how much HTC has to pay to advertise the DNA. It has some pretty high profile spots, and I would guess (based on HTC's previous advertising...) that Verizon has taken on a majority of the expense there, and the DNA is a solid phone. I guess we will see. Hopefully Verizon gets jealous and asks for the One.

IMO, the DNA arrived too late, marketing be damned.

Too late and too early. It'll be crushed by ONE and S4 hype, too late for the One X crowd.
