people who aren't getting this phone because of non-removable battery.

It's not about the battery failing for me. I think most of us that value the removable battery do so because we keep a spare battery to throw in when it's not convenient to charge the phone. If that is something that isn't important to you then that is fine but it certainly does not make it silly to want the ability to do it. My Note 2 last me at least 15 hours and that's if I am on it all day. Normally it lasts closer to 24 hours. I still keep a spare around. It was $30 with a charger. Well worth it to me and many others. Maybe not to someone else though.

Removal battery is all about convenience. I can't get that from the ONE. If my phone is to die half way throughout the day I'm SOL? Just a question... I'm using an Evo 4G and if anyone is familiar with this device, they'll know HTC wasn't too thoughtful on battery life. That's why I own 4 batteries. Haha

When I had it I had a pocket full of batteries too to combat the one hour of screen time.

HTC batteries are great when you first get the phone but after a couple months they lose charge capacity until you can only get an hour of use out of them

I find it silly to require a MicroSD card slot. I prefer to either have my music in the cloud or use a USB cable to transfer. So much hassle taking the card then shoving it into an adaptor then putting it into the SD slot on my comp.

Removal battery is overrated. Why in the world would I want to carry a random battery in my pocket at all times? Seems dumb. And it ruins the design of the phone.

Well carrying a battery in your pocket is always better than a dead phone in your pocket...

Dead phone in the pocket, or a phone AND a charger in the pocket is REALLY dumb, totally ruins the user experience.

And as for memory cards, if you don't like it don't use it, plus for people who are NOT on unlimited data plans, the cloud is a terrible idea.

If you can't get to the sd card by plugging in with a usb cable then your phone was designed very poorly.

And a removable battery is a nice OPTION. It doesn't mean you are committed to carrying a spare. And with as bad as htc is with battery life they shouldn't be the ones leading the charge for non removable batteries. And to say that a removable battery ruins the design of a phone is just ridiculous

Seriously, sometimes you are just not able to plug in your phone to a charger, and having extra batteries comes in handy. Plus, who wants to carry a charger everywhere they go? By the time my battery goes to zero, the battery I have charging in my battery charger is fully charged so I just swap it out. Being that these phones are so fast now, it takes less than a minute to remove the battery from my phone, swap it out for the fully charged one, and boot up my phone.

I think HTC does it to keep some people away from their phones! And I don't blame them! I find HTC users a better class of person!

Remember what the doormouse said, feed your head!

Not really, they are the Android version of Apple

Removable battery yes. I prefer the heft and feel of the extended 3500 mA battery on my Gnex. And I just ordered a 3800 for a spare. The SD card isn't an issue as I have had Blackberries with them and Nexii without and I am fine with total onboard storage vs a teeny, tiny micro SD card.

The bottom line is buy whatever you want/like/need and don't worry about whatever everyone else wants/likes/needs.

It's not Apple after all, you have more of a choice than black or white.

After buying a few batteries on ebay that were listed as higher mah and finding that they did not last as long as stock, I've given up on spare batteries and bought a external battery pack. The battery pack has more power, costs less than a OEM battery, does not require a special charger, works on more devices, and best of all does not make me reboot my phone in order to work. This is the future. You will get over it.

Immediate future for most devices maybe, but not long term.

Terrible future.

Just buy an oem battery and call it a day.

The pros for a removable battery outweigh the cons any day. Always better to have it than not.

Phones should never come without one

I'd love to hear the rationale behind this one.

OEM batteries are the best, for sure. That's been proven time and time again. And having a removable battery is nice. If it's not removable, and it lasts, I don't have a problem with it. I haven't had battery issues with my EVO LTE, but the OG EVO was a killer so I kept two spares. Although I didn't have a problem getting more than an hour out of it, so I don't know if you were trying to jump-start your car with it or what. But I'm sure that soon enough Samsung will go the same route as everyone else is slowly going. It's inevitable really. It's a much more cost-effective model and you can squeeze more components and/or more battery capacity in the same amount of space. And while I joyfully await to hear what the apologists have to say then, it does seem like the average consumer isn't too worried about it now. We aren't the average consumer here, and I get that. But if the average Jane and Joe were worried, Apple wouldn't be selling the iPhone like they are. And Samsung would have sold just as many (or more, quite frankly) spare batteries as they have devices.

Both have their pros and cons. Until the non-removable variety are giving people 30 hours of screen-on time and 15 days of standby this conversation will go on. Until then, I'll take my One with the non-removable battery and a power-pack over a removable one and spare batteries. For ME it makes more sense. I can get the same capacity as 4 spares, but I can use it on any phone my wife and children have as well. Or her tablet. And I don't lose what I was doing to swap it out. And if I need to recharge it because I've juiced up everything I have, I just plug it in with nothing special required, while using the phone it just charged. If I'm camping for a week do I need to take 2 or 3 batteries for each phone with me? And how do I charge those up when they die? I have to put a dead battery into the phone and plug it in somewhere. Unless I'm carrying around a charging dock with a spare battery slot, which is no different than carrying around a big power pack. I understand it's not as convenient as swapping a battery out to finish out your day before you go home at night. I get that. But I don't have that issue with my phone right now, and I certainly won't have it with the One.

Out of curiosity what kind of battery life do you deem acceptable with the EVO now and what would you take with the one?

Probably won't make any friends for saying this but here goes. I like having a removable battery now, I don't use the option but I appreciate having it. But with as good as the note 2 battery is, if it was non removable I wouldn't be pitching a fit. I get very good battery life and really have to work at killing it so for today's day and age that is acceptable to me.

I get a full day pretty easily on my EVO. I have some long commutes so I plug it in when I'm driving obviously, but I get 14 hours pretty easy and will still have about 20% left. That may not sound like a lot but I am pretty data intensive throughout the workday and I am on the phone for at least an hour and a half each day, if not more. I get push notifications for gmail and 2 other email accounts during the day and I run stock everything. This includes a few hours of screen time and an hour or so of games (Beach Buggy Blitz and Pitfall currently). And this is my launch-day device. I plug in every night and start the day at 100%, every single day.

And I get what you're saying about the Note 2. If you can swap batteries it's great if you need to. The option is nice to have. But if you can't swap batteries there are still plenty of options available that aren't much more intrusive and have some added benefits. People who pretend that having a non-removable battery makes the phone a pos are misguided at best. It can present, but doesn't guarantee, some challenges that are easily overcome. It's a preference, to be sure, but pretending like it's the end of the world and the downfall of a corporation is disingenuous. Again, when Samsung does it, and LG and Sony and Moto too, it will be interesting to see what all the battery Nazi's have to say then. I'm more concerned with the lack of removable storage that seems to be the way of the future than I am about the battery.

During the week on a good day I spend a minimum of 2 hours in the car. I don't even own a car charger because I've gotten so lazy about charging with this phone. I'm still training myself not to worry about battery life anymore.

And I agree on the storage comment. If phones start topping out at 64gb with no other options I'll be sad. Hopefully that won't be the case.

Hell, I don't care if they pimp out 128GB, I would always like the option of removing my files in a split second without deleting them.
