I have a HTC One on Three network in UK, but it never displays H+ where as my friend has a Samsung S4 also on Three and his always displays H+. Is there any reason for this? How do I activate this setting as its useful to know when im connecting to H or H+

As the screen shot shows im still getting good 3G speeds but not displaying H+

Does it ever say 4g?

Nope as Three doesn't support 4G yet, but they're the only network in the UK which has wide availability of DC-HSDPA. My previous Nokia Lumia 820 always said H+ too so its not the network.

Go into dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* and see what you're connected to.

I have an s4 with ee and the 3g signal is terrible but when i go into settings and change it to use 3g and H -HSDPA it only uses 3g still. So I've just set my s4 to use H -HSDPA only and it's really fast now. Think I'll change it to lte once I'm in the city to get 4g. Pretty annoying but that's EE for you. :/

I don't know anything about that carrier (I'm in the US), but is it possible that different manufacturers just use a different icon to indicate what you're looking for? That is, 'H' on the HTC is the same as 'H+' on the Samsung and the Nokia?

That's right. It is dependant on the carrier. I am in 3 as well and it only shows H, but I still get really fast speeds. In fact the 3G speeds on 3 are faster than 4G with EE.

I'm with three and also only get H icon although use to get H+ on my Galaxy. The speeds are the same though and wow 27mb are you sat on the mobile mast haha, I get around 10mb and thought that was decent.

It's just a HTC One thing, they don;t show the H+ icon, I'm in India and while my friend's samsung shows H+ my phone is stuck on H. You have to go into "about" from settings and click "network" there you should see under signal saying HSPAP. ( im saying all this off the top of my head so don't expect me to be a 100% with the actual steps! but the way I said it you should get there with no issues..
