4.2.2 battery problem

So ive warched 30 minutes of youtube videos and my battery dropped 10 percent. The screen brightness is at half.Is this considered to be normal?

I would say it's normal BUT were you on 3G/4G or wifi? If you're using wifi, that would be normal...real normal, especially at 50% brightness :) but if on 3G/4G it would be worse. If you were on 3G/4G, you would lose 20% or more in that time depending on your signal.

There are so many factors that determine battery life it isn't even funny. But in your case, it sounds normal so you can breathe easier now!!

My battery is terrible. Ive done 12 instant messages. 4 pics and my battery has gone down to 39% in 5 hours. Before 4.2 it was over double that. Everytime I pulled it out of my pocket the battery had gone down by 5% or more. Shocking. Hope restarting fixes it coz im using my mighty S4 with great battery.

I have received the update last monday (15-7) and at the moment the battery drain due to Google services still persists. (66% of total)
Hopefully it will settle soon, because this is really bugging me.

**update** spoke too soon as the problem soved itself (after the new playstore and mapps updates)

The same as mine... Right after I've updated to 4.2.2 OTA. One drains the battery very quickly and the usage of Android System is 69% @@ (WT...). I think it is caused by sofware's problem. Hope HTC'll reponse !!!

I still have the 4.1.2 (Telus) but it looks like the battery drains quite fast when WiFi is on. I just got this phone last monday and I have 14 days to get a new one. Is there a good way to test out the battery, take a screen shot, and then post it here for you guys to assess?

Would really appreciate the advice. I love this phone, but it seems like my HTC Google Nexus One has a better battery life at the moment.

Check this app:

And then post some stats. Also you can find out if there is an app or something that is the culprit.

I have the same problem since the update. I have used the "batter stats plus" to find a draining app.
The app already helped me once to locate a draining app.

Right now there is an app called "keychain" that sucks my power up.

Here is a Link to my Screenshot

I already factory reseted my phone twice
If someone has an idea to fix the problem I would be thankull

I too had the same problem. And I fixed it .. after much annoyance.. the key is to off location services like everything .... And uninstall updates from play store from the settings >apps>google play store.. whatever google **** is running just uninstall the update and let ir run on the factory version.. once it's fine.. you will realise your battery goes back to.normal draining usage (((((:

I can also confirm this bug exists in the 4.2.2 Update, Androis OS eating up the battery fast with over 50% usage. I've even done a factory reset on the phone, but the battery won't last near as long as with the perfectly fine 4.1.2 firmware.

My battery has gone absolutely berserk after the 4.2 update.

I've always had decent to short battery life with my one, getting to 17 at an absolute stretch. Shortly after updating I went on vacation for two weeks to somewhere with no cell reception and a poor WiFi connection. My battery tanked. Like big time. I went through 40% on standby overnight, and the battery just wasn't lasting anything like normal, with Google services accounting for almost all of the drain.

Then, I return hope, and my battery shot up to being outstanding. For most of the last week I've experienced easy 20 hr plus usage, with battery to spare. It has been insanely good - so much better than ever before. Google services still high though.

Today, it's back to normal - 14hrs use, 21% left. Google services still high (55% of my battery use today).

So I'm not sure what to think really. 4.2 has given me both the worst battery life I've had, and even better than could have ever imagined. It seems like there must be a bug somewhere, Google services use is just crazy high regardless.

Nb, this isn't a third party app issue - my wife also has a One and experienced broadly the same changes, without the same incredible high (but with better life previously on 4.1 than me anyway). Google Services usage also crazy high.

Guys the only problem is Google Now that's what's causing this issues. All you need to do is open Google Now n disable it in the settings menu! At first my bat drain like crazy but sins I disabled Google Now the Android System drain went down from 85% to around 5% at the moment!!

The battery life on my android tablet after 4.2.2 update is worse than any other case I can find on the internet (and I have trawled). My tablet won't even work without the charger connected now - even after charging for hours. It gets to 99% only and when I disconnect the charger the tablet instantly notifies me to plug in again. I've tried uninstalling apps, searching for apps that cane the battery, turning off things that can cane the battery, etc., and a factory reset - nothing has worked. The tablet updated itself maybe 3-4 days ago and all this talk of the system settling after a while seems not to apply to my device.
I've only had it two months and I have had problem after problem with it. Android users may claim that iOS users are out-of-the-box-dumb-arses (paraphrasing from LOTs of forums there ;D, not saying any one here has said that) but quite honestly, considering most of my time using my tablet involves looking for problem fixes, I'm in their camp. It shouldn't be this much trouble to use a device like this, most of the problems I've had should be transparent fixes, information should be easy to find on the device itself, not by having to search third party forums where all manner of chinese whispers take place.

I am so done with Android.

Sorry, rant over. :)
