Android Device Manager arrives

Really liking the Device Manager so far. No issues with the desktop interface, and so far the location updates have been fast and accurate. :)

noob question here... how do i activate my device with google?

i am getting the following message:

'No Active Devices
Before you can use ADM, you must have an active android device'.

thanks!

Went into Android Device Manager on PC and it works well except the ringing part on my Nexus 10. The tablet itself will not go off when it's silent or on vibration mode when I hit "Ring" button. On the other hand, my GS2 works when it's on silent or vibration. Is it just me who is experiencing with this issue?

Maybe go to settings>sercurity>device administrators> and activate ADM.

If you don't have ADM in under device administrators, clear data of Google Play Store and reboot your device.

Only cellphones with service on it will ring.

I'm trying to figure out how to logout of my account from their webpage. I want to be able to login to my wife's account to track her phone if necessary. Obviously there is no use to login to my account on my own phone.

I can't get it to work on my ipad, i get location unavailable. Will try with my laptop later. Anyone get it working on the ipad?

Tried this service again with my Nexus S 4G and it continues to say "Location unavailable"

:-*It's on my droid 4.1.2 under Security - Device Adminstrators - I have the choice of Motorola Device Policy or Android Device Manager to activate which one I want. Not sure why I would want it, but well see what conspires at this point. I just can't disable my pin lock on this phone. I take the steps under Security I click on Security Lock under pin, asks for my pin which I enter, then I tap on Cancel put nothing happens. Anyone help me with this simple task?

If your Android device doesn't appear in Android Device Manager, or if you see Unknown location despite your device being online and running Google Play services version 3.2.25 or higher, follow these steps:

Open Google Settings from your device's apps menu.
Touch Android Device Manager.
Uncheck Allow remote factory reset.
Go to your device's main Settings menu, then touch Apps > All < Google Play services.
Touch Clear Data. Note that this action doesn't remove personal data.
Go back to Google Settings and select Allow remote factory reset.
Restart your device.
Once your device restarts, wait around five minutes and refresh android.com/devicemanager.

Both my devices (Nexus 4 & Nexus 7 FHD Running 4.3 sock) show up in ADM w/ wipe & ring options available but, when trying to locate it just says 'Location Unavailable'. All location settings are turned on with both my devices. Tried disabling and re-enabling all location options & restarting the devices multiple times. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Everyone

i wouldnt worry too much if it cant find your location just yet. i think the important thing is that it recognises your device.

it has worked for me a couple of times but right now - even after those steps, its a bit of a hit and miss. its early days. i am sure the system will improve over the coming days.
