Cool. Thanks... Is there any reason why 1.1.1 was preferred for this tutorial. Or was this tutorial just made before twrp 2 was confirmed???

I went with 1.1.1 anyway because it's fully stable whereas 2 is still in development.

I used 2 and I love it. It's a whole new ball game. The touch screen interface is a welcome change to the days of CMW with the volume up/down thing.

On the right hand side right under "select your device" is a button to begin the process. Once you start, you'll be asked to register then it will email you a conformation in which will be a link to go back to the site and paste your code. *as far as i can remember* I have heard of people having problems because of there browser choice. For some reason the htcdev site is unfriendly to some browsers. I'm thinking this might be where your problem is.
I used Chrome and had no problems.

You need to create an account with HTC. When you navigate their site after doing so, it gives you a walkthrough of everything you've already done. Then it asks for your token.

Could anyone direct me to a way to unroot my evo? Because i'm having that terrible reboot problem, and I have to turn it in. Honestly I searched around google, and I don't feel like wasting $300 dollars because I was stupid and rooted my evo before noticing the issues. I would be in great gratitude if someone could help me.

Re-rooted my phone with Harmonia this weekend following these steps and it was a piece of cake.

But you might want to edit it your post and let people know they have to create an account on the stupid token unlock page. That threw me off a bit because I hate registering for stupid things , even though I have a spam email account it's still pretty annoying.

Well I did find a way to relock it, but even after I RUU'd it, it still says RELOCKED. If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Anyone else get that? I entered EXACTALLY the correct data

Try a different browser, a lot of browsers don't like that webpage.

Did you properly extract the MiniSDK to C:\sdk-tools? If you did, there should be files inside "sdk-tools" on the C drive.

Worked like a charm. Used cwm 4.0.1.4 instead only because it was from sprint evo 3d thread.
The su zip was 2.3xx zip which didn't work on ics. The su zip on this thread worked . Probably not going to custom rom yet only because stock from vm fairly bloat free. Thanx for your guide...still s on but makes no difference...only gripe with cwm is hard to read ui.

I have the phone unlocked, but and I am trying to install the recovery, and the phone disconnects from the computer. ADB cant find the phone not sure what to do.. I tried to install TWRP from goomanager, and that doesnt seem to install either way. What a headache.. Any advice on why the device disconnects.
I guess 8th time is a charm finally got it to load the recovery... Thanks for the tutorial..

"sdk tools" is not an application. "fastboot" and "adb", however, are applications you run in the command prompt.

Please don't attempt to root your phone if you're unable to distinguish the difference between an archive (zip file) and an application (exe)

Oddly enough... I had to stop using Chrome on the HTC site because button presses on some screens didn't work at all. What fixed it? Firing up my old copy of Opera 9.0 Heh...
