I really like the HTC Mail App compared to the stock Gmail App (i know I'm probably weird). I was wondering if it would be better to let it set it up as IMAP or to set it up as an exchange account to get my email through the Mail App. In the past when I setup Gmail as an exchange account in HTC Mail if I was to delete an email it would go into a continuous syncing loop and drain the battery. Does this still occur? Also, if I fetch every 5 - 15 minutes if the account is setup as IMAP would this drain the battery quicker.

I also like the HTC mail app and I have never thought of using the gmail with exchange. I have it configured as.IMAP and I would imagine having it push the email to my phone instead of syncing every so often would be a huge battery saver.

1. All e-mail in one place
2. HTML Previews downloaded automatically (no extra step to show HTML content)
3. Pinch to Zoom actually works
4. Large attachments don't cause sent mail to get stuck, like in the Gmail app
5. The ability to sort mail by unread, attachments, etc.
6. Badge notifier of new mail

Just make sure you turn off notifications in the gmail app so you don't get notified twice. Also, turn off contact and calendar syncing for either the exchange gmail account or Gmail to avoid extra battery drain. You don't need them syncing twice.

The problem I had was that HTC mail client would misrender about a third of my messages. I just recently started using the K-9 email app. It has all of the advantages you cite and, so far, has rendered everything perfectly.

you can set it up as exchange to have everything push, but i think it will only allow you to reply with your gmail account, for those who have others forwarded to gmal

Exchange. Screw IMAP. There's really no reason to use it now that Gmail has activesync.

It's microsoft's technology for push mail and folder syncing. It's what exchange uses and now Google, as well as assorted other providers.

How can I get this????? I can't seem to get push email like I used to with my blackberry on my Vivid.

This is probably a stupid question for those of u in the know but, can an exchange account be set up for an everyday normal gmail account & have it push? I don't have a server....just a couple email addresses. l really don't like the stock gmail app.
Anyway.....I'm an android noob so plz go easy on me......

@ berry junkie, do you mean if all your accounts are forwarded to gmail? if so then you would be able to set up the gmail address in the htc mail app as an exchange activesync account

No....I just have gmail accounts.
