HTC VIVID, gorilla glass?
does the htc vivid have gorilla glass or is the glass at least hard/durable enough to prevent scratches?

No, it isn't Gorilla glass. It's plenty durable, but I strongly recommend a good screen protector and a good case, a Seidio Active or equivalent at minimum.

Did not know that. I figured they used gorilla glass. I deft need a screen protector. I scratched the screen either in my pocket or in my cup holder in my car.

Re: HTC VIVID, gorilla glass?
The Vivid doesn't have Gorilla Glass... If you've used any phone with Gorilla Glass it would have been obvious because you can even feel the difference on the screen. The Vivid screen also smudges more easily than any Gorilla Glass screen I've ever used.
Sony says the same thing about their Ion screen that isn't Gorilla glass, but it scratches very easily. I wouldn't buy any phone without a Gorilla Glass screen or something equipvalent. I dropped my Skyrocket on the face and it slid and there's not even a hint of a scratch on the screen. That would have destroyed the Vivid or Ion's screen, probably even cracked it... That SR took it like a champ. Have dropped my Vibrant on the face on Concrete and it was perfect afterwards as well.
Gorilla Glass or go home, IMO. - 08-03-2012, 04:27 PM #12

so who makes their phones with gorilla glass?

Any phone maker, really. It all comes down to what phones will have it and what manufacturers want to spend the extra cash for it.

Re: HTC VIVID, gorilla glass?
I had an otterbox defender on it, and I never dropped my vivid. The reason why I like the Gorilla Glass is cause it's durable *just in case* and the screen feels completely different than screens that don't have gorilla glass. I can feel the difference just using the phone, and without the Corning it feels icky.
Gorilla Glass screens are also supremely resistent to smudges and fingerprints, usually, where screens like the Vivid or the Sony Ion fail miserably.
And a Vivid with a Defender on it is one of the bulkiest, heaviest mobile phone equipment I've ever had the pleasure to carry around on a daily basis.Thanked by: - 08-10-2012, 09:09 AM #16
