Extended battery
I'm thinking about getting an extended battery for my Vivid and am considering the GTMax. I'd like to get a better back cover, though. I've seen some Mugens on eBay, but not for the Vivid. Any other place I can look?

Re: Extended battery
The case or the battery?

Re: Extended battery
Just the case (back cover), which apparently will fit over the GTMax. The Mugen battery itself is a little too pricey for my needs.

Re: Extended battery
Hmm...I would look on amazon.com, but it might be hard to find it.

Re: Extended battery
Good to know. Amazon has it for $10.70, although it's not ID'd as a GTMax, just X710E, so I assume it's the same one. I've got about 10 bucks in credits, so it'd be hard to go wrong.
They also have a GTMax 3500mAh for $13.94.
EDIT: No, I'm wrong. The one you have is the is the $13.94 one. - 12-16-2012, 04:41 PM #8

Re: Extended battery
Thanks for the suggestion, Vern, but I just ordered the GTMax from Newegg - - free shipping plus they're close by, so I should get it fairly quickly (thanks OperationA7X).

Re: Extended battery
So, the GTMax came today. The back cover isn't nearly as tacky as I was led to believe reading some of these posts. I can see the clips are pretty delicate though, so I'll try to watch out.
It came with a 60% charge. How many times do I need to do a full cycle charge to break it in? 2, maybe 3?Last edited by bruce7373; 12-20-2012 at 05:50 PM.

Re: Extended battery
Well, I hope this is a good sign: I did one full charge and have now being using the phone for 2+ hours (reading news feeds, surfing, writing emails), and I'm only down to 93%. Normally I would have used at least 20% by now. :-)

Re: Extended battery
In my experience, it takes a few drains to get full length. But hey, its worth it. I know the clips are weak, but hey, its worth it.

Re: Extended battery
Looks like you get what you pay for. The battery failed after one day! It drained to about 55%, the phone went into sleep mode, then when I tried to wake it, it wouldn't turn on (even plugged into AC). At first I thought my phone had died, but I put the OEM battery back in and the phone booted up.
Bummer.

Re: Extended battery
That seems very odd...I have never had that before. So, the battery is dead already, as in, won't charge anymore? If not, it was just a bad charge cycle or the battery really is dead.

Re: Extended battery
RAll I know is, it was at 55%, the display timed out, I tried to turn the phone on a few minutes later and...nada. I kinda panicked, thinking the phone itself had died.
So I tried plugging it in, but it still wouldn't turn on (no charging light either). I took the back cover off, breaking a clip in the process (sigh), replaced my OEM battery, and I was good to go.
So I don't know what's up. Maybe a connection problem and the phone doesn't "see" the GTMax all of a sudden, since technically the phone won't run on AC if it doesn't detect a battery present, right?
Edit: I just did an experiment. I plugged in the phone and turned it off. The charge light stayed on. I pulled the battery and the charge light turned off. I put in the GTMax. No charge light. Replaced the OEM and once again the charge light came on. So clearly the phone isn't recognizing the GTMax for whatever reason. Maybe something got fried when I was playing Angry Birds, lol.Last edited by bruce7373; 12-22-2012 at 09:51 AM.

Re: Extended battery
Eh, that or its just a bad one. A lot of extended batteries are hand made, and sometimes, you're bound to find a bad one. But my guess is that its 1 out of every 5,000.

Re: Extended battery
I bought the Q Cell from Amazon, I just used the Ebay reviews to see if the battery worked. It was problematic at first trying to find the correct battery for my phone, but then I came across phone cases that would fit my phone that said Boost Mobile Samsung Galaxy SII SPH - D710BST or Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4g touch SPH - D710, Boost uses Sprint towers, after that I realized it was the same phone. You might be able to cross reference your model # if another prepaid carrier that uses the same network as yours sells a similar model phone. It did take awhile to find it so do your homework, and don't hold me responsible if you get it wrong. Just trying to help you out.

Re: Extended battery
So the Qcell isn't a proprietary battery made specifically for Samsung phones, like your Galaxy?
