Re: [WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA
Well my computer is down so I havent had ability to work. Im in the process of buying desktop parts but it will be a while. I am working on a rom that will mimic the Metro UI that the windows phone 7 Devices have. To stay in forum compliance, im writing my own launcher and apps ect to look like win phone 7. CM7 ive stopped on because of the want of ics instead. ICS looks alot better and quite honestly, the bugs are being worked out right as we speak. Moving on, I will still provide support of course, but im doing so from my phone so give me some time. Ive already received some donations, that i am greatful for. SO if youd like to see development continue, donate to me in the form of amazon gift cards, the emails address is simonsimons34(at)gmail(dot)com remove the perenthesis and put in @ and . thanks for the support you guys, it helps me with the confidence to keep developing

Re: [WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA
now that i flashed the OC kernel, im experiencing a strange problem.
the overclock on the cpu is great, its stable, but for some reason it broke my wifi.
it worked before flashing the kernel, and now whenever i try to enable it, it just says "Error" and does nothing. Is there any known fixes for this? because i thought i could live without wifi, but as of lastnight i forgot to pay for service, and without wifi also, its renders the phone useless almost, lol
EDIT: attempted wipe/flash 2.6.7 with the OC kernel, not a good turnout.
its now confirmed (for my phone at least) that the OC kernel breaks the wifi. also for some reason none of the gapps are on the phone with 2.6.7. if i remember right, they were before. but i even went back into the recovery, flashed the latest gapps, and they still would not show up.
idk why my phone is being so dumb about this, but its getting a bit frustrating for me :/ its either i deal with severly low internal memory and no wifi/OC, or no wifi, no apps/gapps. no happy medium
2nd EDIT:
also tried installing any apps while on 2.6.7 through adb, which resulted in the phone restarting during the process which is the same problem ive had with it before. im really stumped as to what could be causing all these problems
Last Edit: (i promise) madonna on the halftime show for the super bowl made me wanna shoot myself >.> roflLast edited by xshad0wzx; 02-05-2012 at 07:03 PM.

Re: [WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA
i have no idea, it defenitly broke mine though, i wouldnt bother flashing it unless u feel like restoring from a backup or re-flashing ur rom altogether.
on a side note, it was quite funny how she stumbled on the bleacher things during the show, lip synced the whole thing it looked like, and how M.I.A flipped off millions and millions of people XD - 02-08-2012, 10:03 AM #561
Re: [WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA
Hi all, new in this forum and new to android rooting/rom flashing.
I have the HTC Wildfire-S from Virgin Movile. I tried to install SSROM12.4.11, and I think I am being very patient as everyone recommends. I've been waiting about 20 min since I started the flash. it is stuck in "Opening update package..." and doesn't get past it.
I wiped everything as suggested before I started but nothing. Any help would be appreciated! - 02-08-2012, 10:55 AM #562

Re: [WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA
welcome to the forums!

but, other people are experiencing the same problem you are with it not booting also.
im not sure if they have had any luck getting the phone to boot though. Ive flashed the same rom that you did numerous times and it worked flawlessly everytime, so it seems like its kinda hit and miss.
which custom recovery are you using? the one supplied by simon on the first page? or some version of Clockworkmod? because ive tried both of them and experienced problems flashing while using clockwork, but havent ran into any while using the one simon posted.
the only thing i can suggest is once again try booting into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, then try re-flashing the rom and hope for the best - 02-08-2012, 05:23 PM #565

Re: [WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA
is it different then your two roms you've released? ive experienced small issues with each of them (dont get me wrong, there good roms, and ive got nothing against you or anything, im sure its just my phone being tempromental)
on the first rom you released my wifi wouldnt work (which if i remember right, was a known issue) and it would hang alot after i woke it from sleep (actually, i think it may do that on any rom ive used, sometimes it would hang for up to 15 seconds, im not sure why, but its very, VERY annoying/frustrating), and as for the newer one, i couldnt download any apps. As soon as the download would complete, it would freeze and reboot my phone, not sure why it does that, i tried everything i can to get it to work, but nothing has worked yet
Also the OC kernel would break my wifi. again, i think it may just be an issue with my phone, but im not entirely sure as no one else has reported that happening.
and just for clarification, i am on Virgin Mobile, so the roms/kernel should be 100% compatible with my phone, but theres always some little quirk, and it sucks, lol
as of right now im using your first rom paired with a different OC kernel and its working alright except the wifi not working, and the 5-15 second hanging (unresponsiveness) the phone does
