Why does my new Huawei P8 battery drain so fast?

So today I got the huawei p8, absolutely gorgeous phone by the way,
when i turned on the phone for the first time it was at 51 percent, this very very quickly went down,like it took 30 minutes of very little use, is this normal ? will the battery be okay when i fully recharge ?

also was it a good choice upgrading to the p8 from my huawei ascend g7? (just curious on your opinions)

Give it a few days to settle. Generally with new phones there are updates, and all sorts of services connecting combined with all the apps you are installing, plus you fiddling with your new shiny phone getting things set up the way you like. A couple of charges and you should be good.
