The best place to check is the XDA forum. If a root is achieved that's the place to look.

and when they find a new root, what is the best way and easiest to root the phone without bricking? if theres a general way. I once rooted and romed my g2 when I was on tmobile buit totally forgot how to do this stuff been while.

There is no easy way or hard way. When root is achieved they will post instructions.

Well in general you'd follow a procedure like this one, in the sticky in this forum. But this specific one wouldn't work for 2.3.4, only 2.3.3. Once somebody finds root on 2.3.4, people will do up guides like this again. If you don't have 2.3.4 yet, I suggest rooting right now via this method and then using the Titanium Backup app to freeze the com.smithmicro file so Vz won't push the update to you. You don't have to do anything beyond that if you don't want to flash a different ROM for example. But this will give you the option, and you can always undo it if needed using the 2.3.3 un-root procedure in this same forum.

An alternative to using Titanium is to just use Root Explorer and rename or delete DmClient.apk in /system/app. That's the source of the SmithMicro service.
