new member of the droid community, switched from a bb tour and couldnt be happier with the dinc2. def want to root, but dont want to brick my device. any rooting for dummies suggestions?

Just wait for roms to come out first. Next, someone will likely make up an auto root file so u can just download the file, execute it, restart, and boom, rooted. So just give it some time. It'll come out.

oops,
i bricked my phone i think. cant access anything but the memory card. it tries to turn on but no service and everything force closes. i made a backup but now it acts like there is no clockwork recovery installed. it was on there but now wont work since i tried to flash to another rom and then flashed to my backup because the rom wouldnt boot. any ideas on what to do or am i screwed?
