Smile Waiting for phone, looking for screen protectors...

    Hey every one,

I'm currently waiting for my HTC Incredible, so in the mean time I figured I would purchase my screen protectors.

Has any one purchase these screen protectors from Verizon? What did you think?

I'm mainly just looking for a screen protector that covers the main touch screen and the 4 buttons on the bottom. But I've noticed that on some of these screen protectors you have to apply some sort of liquid to them, and I'm not comfortable doin that.

Would the Verizon one be a good choice? I'm looking for just screen protectors not cases or any thing like that.

    Thanks,

    Bigk

I'm using the ZAGG protector. A guy at Best Buy installed it for me and it comes with a liquid that gets sprayed on the screen. So far so good.

There are a couple other threads that discuss protectors and different cases.

I was watching a how to video on how to apply the phantom skins to a lg dare and they don't seem hard to apply. But its the whole water + phone situation that I'm not liking.

I'm using Boxwave no liquid or adhesives, I've had them on all my phones since my h6315 so I can't really compare them but they beat the hell out of all the other alternatives when I first tried them.

    I use Clarivue:

I like them because once you get it on, you cannot tell there is a screen protector on there. It's very easy to apply and they send you two of them for 13 bucks(no adhesives, uses static cling). I bought the Nexus One version and have been very happy.

Thank you for the replies. Are the anti-glare for static cling protectors, really dark and tinted? Or would I be better off going with the regular clears ones? How thick are the Boxwave, Clarivue, and steinheil screen protectors?

I bought mine from Verizon it works great, no bubbles and can't see it. I have owned Zagg before and the Zagg tended to be softer. The Verizon protector is more like a hard-plastic protector.

    I recommend it.

I picked up a package of Zagg protectors as a temp solution. I have purchased and installed SGP Crystal Clear and SGP Anti-Glare/Fingerprint protectors on (2) laptops and (5) smartphones (mostly BlackBerry) and now I ordered their kits for my Incredible. I prefer the optically clear protection and not the wavy look that the Zagg gives you. Check them out .

Yeah still showing out of stock for the Crystal Clear one...I emailed them earlier this morning and their response was this:

    Hello,
Thank you for contacting SGP customer service.
We are expecting it to be back in stock by end of this week, if not by early next week.

If you have any more questions, please feel free contact our customer service department again at ****. Thank you.

The VZW protectors are just rectangular films, not shaped to fit the front of the Incredible. That means you can see them because they only cover part of the screen. I think (hope) they'll eventually have custom fit protectors because I don't like the feel of the Zagg, nor using cling protectors. I want one with adhesive that fits the entire front of the device. So far I haven't found one.

BoxWaves are my personal favorites. Extremely easy to put on and super thick.

Their films are a bit more expensive than the ones from SGP, but probably the same products. Looking through that site however I saw what looks to be a nice rubberized/silicone case - has anyone reviewed the FlexiSkin for the Incredible?

I had always use the anti finger print from SGP, I just hate finger prints. How that Crystal Clear work for you with the finger prints?

Thanks for suggesting the SGP - Steinheil Crystal Clear.

Just have to caution on the side of patience and work in a dust free area. When using the scotch tape method to detach dust, I accidentally caused an abrasion on the adhesive side that I could not repair on my first application.

The second attempt went much smoother, no particles stuck under the film. Particles tend to cause a cavity keeping a small air pocket surrounding it. If using tape to remove dust, be sure to use a type that has light adhesion and does not leave part of its own residue behind.

I noticed almost immediately a strange improvement for the responsiveness of touch for the screen after the protector was applied. It also tends to be a much smoother surface allowing my fingers to glide. Even though it is not specified as a main feature the Crystal Clear, from what I have noticed, tends to resist fingerprints slightly more so than the unprotected surface. Also, seemingly because of the smoothness, smudging is not as obstructive, it tends to distribute oil from skin more evenly while remaining fairly clear.

I tried the Zagg, but it makes the screen darker and the screen is not as smooth. Ever since I started using the Swype keyboard, having a smooth screen has become more important.

Last night, I just put on the screen from Boxwave. It's crystal clear, but the screen is still stickier than I'd like. I'd like to try the SGP Crystal Clear, but it looks like it's out of stock again. Can anyone tell me if the SGP provides a low friction surface?

That's interesting about the Boxwave. I have the Boxwave anti-glare version and it could not be any smoother. I was thinking about trying the clear version but only if it was as smooth as the anti-glare. Based on your comments I'm thinking it isn't.

I use ShapeWriter and a smooth, slippery protector is a must. I guess I will stick with the anti-glare.

The Boxwave crystal clear is much better than the Zagg in terms of its drag coefficient. In fact, in air-conditioned buildings or normal weather, the screen is pretty slick. It's not as friction-free as the original screen, but it's really not bad.

My apartment is always > 90 degrees, so everything gets stickier, except for the original glass screen. I didn't know if the SGP worked any better than the Boxwave in high heat, high humidity situations.
