[ROM] Incredible Sept 2011 Rooted Gingerbread OTA

I flashed the one a few weeks ago without wiping think I can do that with this one? I did also update my radio last night as well and see the new one has the same radio. Also is there a fix for the location warning at boot?

Plemelin, you should be able to flash over by wiping cache and dalvik cache only. Don't know if it fixed the location warning.

How about the "app data space" issue, or the non-updating widgets issue? For the first time since launch day, I'm feeling really ready for a new device. :sigh:

Well, I couldn't call myself an Android Support Tech at work if I didn't give this rom a shot. Although CM7 will always be my rom, I have flashed the rooted OTA and putting it through its paces. Already missing all the customization options.

Ok, I think my phone is telling me it doesn't want to run anything but CM7. I did a full wipe, cache and dalvik five times each, and flashed the rooted rom. Now a get a force close everytime I try to launch gmail. I have deleted and reinstalled the app and still fc's every time. I even went back and wiped everything again and still no luck. Ah well.

I just flashed the latest over the .2 one from a few weeks ago. More or less the same thing but I am not complaining. Phone seems faster after doing the one a few weeks ago and is super stable. No force closed and I have checked every app installed. I have also noticed better reception since flashing the .07 radio Thursday night. Was thinking of doing the quick settings one but I like the Location icon. Does the DTR posted work?

I've been running this one since Saturday using the rls gingertiny kernel and the mod for advanced power menu and loving it.

Flashing this over Cyanogen?

I'm rooted and running chad's incredikernel 2.6.37.6 and the latest stable CM7 rom (dated 5/6/11).

If I download this stock rooted GB rom, can I just flash it like I'm flashing any other rom, or does it require anything different?

Should I be fine just keeping incredikernel when I flash this rom or should I change the kernel to something else before flashing?

I'm about to give my incredible to my wife and upgrade to the Bionic, and my wife prefers Sense and does not need the customization of CM, so I figure a stock rom will be best for her (and what she would like the most).

You're going from apples to oranges, so the first step is to nandroid backup. Then boot into recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvik at least three times each, just to make sure you clear everything from CM7 out. Then install the new rom. That new rom will come with it's own kernel, so you will lose Chads, which is ok, because the version of Chad's you are using is for AOSP only. Do not restore apps from Titanium or anything equivalent. Do a fresh install of all your apps.

Personally, there's nothing that the "official OTA" has that's going to get me to give up CM7.

And you should know...you tried a couple times before you're phone made itself clear "AOSP FOREVER!!":p

Is it possible to revert back from the OTA so that I can root my phone? I'm not overly impressed with the update. In fact, I don't notice any differences except for losing the ability to switch to vibrate or silent by pressing the power button. I know that rooting isn't possible on the new version so I thought I would see if I can revert and then root. Thanks!

If you were rooted, did you make a Nandroid before installing the Rooted OTA?

If so, just restore back to your nandroid.

If not you would have to do a full wipe and reload of Stock Froyo and re-root.

Or

You could flash Virtuious or one of the other Froyo Stock/deblated ROM's instead. (Again a full wipe would be in order.)

Do I need to rename this file before flashing? Also I assume I can/should do this from Clockwork?

No, you do not need to rename the file and yes, you are correct, you flash this in clockwork.

Hope this helps.
