For me, I've been a big fan of Cyanogenmod 7. It's been my daily driver for almost a year. Very fast, very stable, great battery life.
Make a nandroid of your current setup and give it a shot. You can always restore back.
You might also like some of the other GB ROMs out there too. I know Nills' is a favorite and I enjoyed it very much when I tried it.Some say that his dormant chips were left that way for YOUR SAFETY... Others say that once "turned on," he can not be turned off... All we know is... He's called The Stig.
