rooted and s-off. now what?

Just rooted for the first time. What should I do first? And second? And so on...

Edit: since I had to downgrade to 2.2, should I avoid the system update I just received? Would it remove root or s-off?

Yes, Ignore the update - it will break root but you will still have S-OFF.

First thing to do is make a backup in Clockwork.

Next... Try a few ROMs. You may want to start with a rooted Stock Rom, but If you want to see what else is out there try any of Nils' ROMs, CM7 natch, MIUI if you're in an Apple frame of mind, or and early ICS.

Just remember to make backups/nandroids in Clockwork first!

Thanks for the info! A little background here. This is the first phone I have ever rooted, so this is all new to me. Also, this is a WiFi only phone, not under service with a carrier, etc...just my old phone I want to mess with now.

So, as of this moment, I'm not even sure how to do a backup in Clockwork. I'll do some quick searching, but if you're bored and want to reply with any assistance, I won't stop you. Haha. Thanks again.

I recommend Jermain's senseless rom based of the most recent OTA. There is also a script on XDA you can run to disable the radio so if you're using it wifi only, it will stop searching for a tower and save you a ton of battery.

I suggest getting ROM Manager. You can back up ROMs with that as well as some other cool features.

Thanks everyone! I did figure out ROM Manager, backups, and flashing roms, etc. Pretty cool stuff. Strange thing happened, the first backup I made, the stock one of 2.2 that I needed to run unrevoked and get s-off, I can't restore. I get some error about md5 not matching? I researched, but what a mess, sounds like I just don't have that backup...the one config that isn't buggy, because I flashed skyraider, cm, and now bugless beast, which ironically has more bugs than the others. I don't know, maybe I'm doing something totally wrong.

Anyway, thanks again everyone. I'll check out some other roms (suggester here too) and keep learning.
