The smartass governor is one that very intelligently scales the processor to maximize battery life. It also features a built in screen off profile, which I believe is 254/384. It can also be scaled down to 128/384. If you are looking to squeeze as much juice out of your battery as possible, smartass is the way to go.

You need to flash incredikernel to use smartass. It's under settings -> CM Settings -> Performance -> CPU Settings -> Available governors

From Performance, goto CPU settings -> Available Governors. You should see it there in the list.
