I just rooted my Droid Bionic last night using a MAC and I appreciate all the hard work everybody has pt in posting directions. I upgraded from a Droid 1 and this phone rocks. I need some help in backing up my ROM and hiding my mobile hotspot use. I plan to use this phone very sparingly to allow a connection for my Kindle Fire on travel.

I am also interested in the benefits of rooting the Kindle Fire.

Welcome to Android Central.

Backups are very simple if you rooted and also installed CWM (ClockWorkMod recovery) during the process.

You will need to boot into CWM, however it is done on your device and then select Backup & Restore and then Backup. This will make a complete image (backup) of your device at that moment in time. Something goes wrong, you can go back there and select Restore and restore the backup.

I'm not to sure about hiding the HotSpot, but you can name your Hotspot Network SSID broadcast whatever you like and as long as your using the security settings then you should be safe from unwanted connections to your signal.
