Intro and questions
A little about me. I'm more experienced (in terms of years) than most. I've been into "tech" since the 60s. Done a bunch of prgramming from mainframe stuff (yeech) through windows programming (moderate yeech). Been running linux on my desktop/network since....about 2003 (yay!). Really haven't needed to do much more than scripting for linux. Seems that the tools are mostly already there.
Two years ago, I decided to get an iphone (no shame). After a year and a half, I couldn't wait for the contract to expire so that I could replace it, and I did with a Galaxy S3. I broke into the iphone because I just couldn't stand it any more. Now I'm looking at the droid phone, and am not seeing reasons to root/rom it. I'm sure the info is out there, so could someone please point me to a place where I can find a list of things that I can do with a rooted SIII that I can't do stock? Hey, seriously, I've only been able to figure out that "rooting is cool" and "wow, you'll be able to do so much stuff that you can't do now" but not specifics. Please, just a link is all that I need.
I'm anxious to get started programming the phone. Had problems getting eclipse set up on my linux box, but that problem isn't for here.
Thank you all,
