- Kevin OQuinnAC Team EmeritusHi all! A quick little bit about me. My first smartphone was the Palm Pre on Sprint. I was a proud owner on launch day. About two months later I wasn't so proud. I'm sure we all know why. When the Evo 4G was released I was quick to jump ship. I joined Android Central a little before the release of the Evo, so that I could learn what Android was all about. I've been through many (MANY) devices over the past few years, and I have to say that I've learned a lot, too. That's because of the awesome members that we have here.
So that's a little bit about me and my smartphone history. Those of you that frequent the forums have seen me around I'm sure. I try to be a "regular" member when I post. I love the conversation, I love learning from you guys, and I love helping people with their problems. So that's me.
Thanks.02-26-2013 08:42 PMLike 13
- Paul627gAC Moderator All-StarWhere do I start... I'm from the suburbs of Chicago where I have lived around most of my life. I'm married with 5 children and also have the dog and cat taking up space in the house When I'm not here playing Moderator and helping members I'm a 20+ year Heavy Equipment Operator for Local 150 out of Chicago, Il. Yes I run all the big sand box toys like dozers, off road trucks, back hoes, cranes, etc... When I have some free time I enjoy watching NASCAR and also pull for my local Chicago Blackhawks! Otherwise when given the chance the family and I like to get out and do a little hiking and fishing together.
My smartphone history really starts back with various Nextel's and eventually moving into a Blackberry Curve 8330. Late in 2010 I moved over to Android and a Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint. I knew very little and after doing a Google search of Android it lead me to Android Central where I became a member in late November 2010. I've been here ever since and I've had the Epic 4g, NS4G, Sprint Galaxy Nexus and steal my wife's Galaxy S3 on occasion. I've been an AC Advisor, Moderator and also wear the hat of AC Advisor Manager. I've meet so many great people here at AC both from general discussion to those I've helped in the forums. Everything has been a great experience and look forward to what tomorrow will bring all of us.
So that's a little history on me. I owe a huge thanks to my fellow moderators and the entire staff at AC (mods, advisors, admin, bloggers) for making AC such an awesome place and giving me the chance to be a part of it. Look forward to seeing you all in the forums and take part in some discussion together.
Updated as of 12/7/15:
Not much has changed for me except a few months back I stepped down from my role as Moderator Team Leader since returning back to work full time. Juggling a full work load and having the necessary time needed to properly fill the role as MTL wasn't something I was able to continue. However I still am around as part of the teams but on a much more toned down role.
These days I'm rolling with my LG G3 or G4 depending on my mood, and tinkering with one of my many tablets or other toys.

- AquilaAC Gonfaloniere ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Salute – My name is Matt (shortened from Matheo), born in Siena (a province of Tuscany south of Florence). I was adopted along with my sister and have lived in the US for most of my life. My wife and I have two daughters, who we are raising to be proper nerds.
Professionally I primarily consider myself a martial arts teacher, having been training for nearly 30 years and teaching for about 19 years. Having sold my own school, for the past 9 years teaching has not been my primary occupation and I’ve been working in mathematical modeling and analytics for the past six years. My most recent teaching job began a couple of months ago, providing second level self-defense classes for women out of a local college. Otherwise, I’m a full time student for the next few years.
I began with Android 2010 with the LG Ally, hopped to the HTC Thunderbolt then the Galaxy Nexus, both the 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7’s (all of those on their respective release dates) and I was about 2 weeks late getting my (current) Moto X. I also have a Chromebook for tooling around and most agree that I’m a bit of a Google nerd.
I’m a huge fan of the Android Central blog and especially the podcast and cannot say enough about our ambassador program here in the forums. Please reach out and say thanks to those guys when they help you with your troubleshooting and especially for writing the guides that facilitates a generally more educated community. I deeply appreciate being asked to join the moderator team and hope that I can help to encourage a positive, productive and engaging community while we continue to grow. I’m looking forward to see what the future of tech holds.

- RyModerator CaptainHello everyone.
I’m from Southern California - San Diego & Riverside counties. I'm currently working as a project manager at a healthcare software/hardware provider, but with a past in mobile gaming and entertainment going back to the feature phone days with J2ME and BREW up to iOS and Android.
As far as my mobile devices, take a look at my past phones and feel free to add yours to that thread. I’m always fascinated to hear where people are coming from and see where they’re headed. My phone history looks a little one-sided (HELLOMOTO), but it doesn’t include having to help out family and friends with devices like the iPhone line and all of the Galaxy S and Note phones.
When I’m not nerding out over mobile phones, I’m nerding out over Transformers, Marvel and DC live action entertainment, San Diego Chargers football, Chicago Bulls basketball, and San Diego State Aztecs athletics.
I love the openness that Android as a platform brings and I feel that the community built up here at Android Central is one of the best around. Looking forward to keeping the conversation going.02-17-2014 03:22 PMLike 14
- dpham00Moderator Team VPHello all - When the iPhone and Droid first came out, I really saw no reason to get one. My first smartphone was the HTC Thunderbolt, which originally I got to use Netflix and Skype mainly due to it being the first 4GLTE smartphone. But slowly, I enjoyed using the phone and learning about how it worked. From there I moved on to the HTC Rezound, Droid Razr Maxx, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note II, and am currently using the Galaxy Note 3. In just 3 years, smartphones have evolved a lot and I can only imagine how much technology will advance in the next few years.
I was a little shocked quite honestly when I was offered a Moderator position. I didn't think that I posted in an extra-ordinary manner that would make anyone really notice me and there are people on here much more knowledgable than me. I hope that I will be able to contribute in making Android Central a better place.
A little bit about myself, I live in Los Angeles with my wife and daughter and outside of Android, I have enjoyed tinkering and working with cars and computers as well as a modest DVD collection (which is pretty worthless today). As some of you who have read my posts may be aware, I also enjoy the thrill of hunting for good deals.

- davidncModerator CaptainHey Everybody,
My name is David and I live in a small town called Mint Hill which is just east of Charlotte,N.C.I grew up here and lived most my life here.I did move up to north-west Michigan for a time where I made many new friends. I lived not to far from the Canadian border. I still travel there at least once a year to see all my friends there. Its kinda like my "home away from home". So I have lived in two very different climates. The weather extremes in those places being the heat and humidity of the south and the cold and the snow of the north. The spring /summer was nice up north with not having to dealing with the humidity of the south.I'm not saying its always humid down here cause its not .I actually like both climates.
I worked in a small family owned machine shop referred to as a "job shop" since we normally don't do large scale production runs.I work mainly as a QC manager(quality control). That involves operating an CMM (coodinate-measuring machine), other task are mic. calibration, and first article reports.I also do various other things such as deliver parts/pick up parts, so yes I am the truck driver too.
I have had a couple smartphones before purchasing an android phone those being the Moto Q, and the Blackberry 8330.My first android phone was the original HTC Incredible.Actually after ordering that online and waiting for it to be delivered I joined Android Central. The other android phones I have owned are the Motorola DX, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Moto X,Moto X 2nd Generation, and the newest phones are Moto Nexus 6 and LG G4(H815),Moto X Pure Edition,Nexus 6p, IPhone SE and Pixel ( sailfish)Black 128 GB .I have yet to sell any of my phones I just prefer to keep them.
I was surprised but thrilled to be offered a Moderator position.I think Android Central is a great site for general information, helping people solve their phone issues, and giving tips/guides on how to use their phones.I will strive to do my part in keeping Android Central a great place to come for their needs. If I can ever be any help don't hesitate to PM me.
Thanks to all the past and present Moderators,Ambassadors,Administrators for making it great. Also the regular members that provide information to help others out.I guess that about sums it up ,ha03-11-2014 08:20 AMLike 15
- VDub2174Moderator CaptainHey y'all!!
I recently became a Mod here at AC after being an Ambassador for a little over a year. I've been a member of Android Central since 2009 which is when my smartphone obsession truly started. You can find me all over the forums reading up on all the different devices that come out.
At the beginning of this month I was asked to become a Moderator. I was a bit surprised when Paul627g sent me a message asking if I was interested in becoming a Mod. I thought he was going to talk to me about something pertaining to the Ambassador program but to my surprise, he wanted to offer me a Mod position. I gladly accepted and I assumed I was offered the position because I pretty much live on this site
I work full-time at NJ Taxation and also have a part-time job at Best Buy Mobile. I probably got the job at Best Buy Mobile because I told the hiring manager that I have an obsession with mobile phones....haha
Anyway, I hope to help out as many people as I can on the forums so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to shoot me a PM07-28-2014 05:58 PMLike 20
- AlmeuitModerator Team LeaderHello all,
I am Jason (29 years old) and I am the Moderator Team Lead here at Android Central. I joined back in the day when I was simply trying to learn a few things about my phone. I came across Android Central and found a community of nerds like me and joined instantly. I have really enjoyed every minute of it and still say this is one of the best communities out there.
A little about me (to not make this long winded) -- I love technology and have found a big love for the various phones out there. I am one of those "Chronic Phone Switchers" that everyone talks about. The longest I have had a phone in the past 2-3 years has been ... 5-6 months total? Yes, I am aware I have a problem (I have even ventured into the Apple area to try it out). I am currently using a LG G6 on Verizon. Pretty nice phone!
If you ever have any questions in the community or need some assistance do not hesitate to send me a PM. I will do my best to help out.
See you around the forums!

- Laura KnotekModerator CaptainHi folks,
My name is Laura Knotek, and I am a Moderator at AndroidCentral and WindowsCentral. Some of you might remember me as “lak611”, which was my user name when I first joined as a member of CrackBerry back in 2009.
My smartphone history started with Nokia Symbian. Then I got a BlackBerry, and a friend of mine suggested that I join CrackBerry. I used BlackBerry from June 2009 to April 2012. Then I switched to Windows Phone and became an Ambassador and later a Moderator at WindowsCentral. I switched my mobile platform from Windows Phone to Android in March 2015, but I still use desktop Windows (as well as desktop Linux, which I’ve used since 2006).
I love technology and have a degree in IT Networking.
My Android devices currently are a Moto X Pure Edition and a Nexus 7 (2013).
When I’m not here on the forums, I’m probably at Starbucks having coffee.
I enjoy all things tech related and would love to help you with anything that I’m able to do.10-12-2015 01:48 PMLike 16
- Hello there!
Some of you may know me before as the guy who frequents the comments section of the Android Central news blog. Haha, yeah, I do frequent that section. Anyhow, once again, hello there! My name is Lee and joined the Mod team earlier in 2016.
My smartphone history is rather interesting. The very first smartphone I used was the iPhone 3G, and then I got a 3GS as my first actual smartphone all the way in 2009. However, I never really got to experience Android until not much later, when I got the chance to use my uncle’s Nexus One. That phone still brings me fond memories and I would like to be able to get one just for the nostalgia. However, the first Android smartphone that I actually owned and used frequently was the Samsung Galaxy S2. At the time, it was powerful and sleek. In 2012, I moved up to the Galaxy S3 and in 2013, with TouchWiz leaving a sour taste in my mouth due to lag issues, I changed to the HTC One M7, which is probably still my favorite Android phone to date. I’ve used other phones, like the LG G3, and moved up to the LG G4 in 2015, only to replace it with another one in January of this year due to a hardware defect and then selling the second one due to other issues (I since had another, but it died not too long after). My current device is an Exynos-powered Black Onyx Samsung Galaxy Note 7, first acquired on the 18th of August, and sent back later on due to the battery recall. A new unit with a new battery was then received on the 29th of September and is currently my main device for posting and moderating the AC forums on-the-go. As a side note, I still have almost all of these phones. They’re a pretty good collector’s piece. Other devices that I’ve used that belong to my family include the ASUS Zenfone 2, iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. My current tablet is the 12.9” iPad Pro and my current computer is a Lenovo IdeaPad Y410P.
The story on my username is pretty interesting. It all started on Battlefield 3, where I decided to change to an alias that wasn’t so……meh. I eventually decided on this at random, but realized that no one else really had it, and it’s what made me unique. So, I stuck with it, since 2012.
I joined Android Central in September 2013 after randomly popping on to the website and seeing lots of good Android coverage. I signed up for an account and started to share my thoughts. However, it wasn’t just the news coverage that led to me signing up for an account. It was the community. I have not seen a community that is as lively, open-minded and fun in the tech scene as this one. That’s the one thing that sets Android Central apart from all the rest, and is why I keep coming back for more.
It is a pleasure to be part of this fantastic community and I will continue to make sure that the community stays at its very best. GO AC!
UPDATE 10/14/16: Main device is currently a white 64GB unlocked Moto Z. The Note 7 has been returned a long while back due to its second recall and subsequent cancellation.10-02-2016 10:30 AMLike 7
I'm Corey. I got my login from combining my town with a little play on words. I live in Leominster, Massachusetts (hence the 'Leo')... Leo also meaning lion, the king of the jungle and all that. This bit explains the addition of Rex. So I'm the King. The Avatar is, of course, the famous Beaker. I gravitated to his likeness during a rather stressful stint at my previous company. His frantic energy and demeanour embodied my professional life perfectly at the time. Plus, Beaker rules.
I'm 42 year old Software QA engineer and I've been working in the field for about 20 years now. I studied Physics in college, but I had foreseen a long and desolate life, sitting in the bowels of some lab somewhere, so I took a job as a co-op working at a nearby networking company doing software quality assurance doing what I did best; fuss around with computers to the point of breaking, then figuring out what I did wrong and fixing it. It was a match made in career heaven and I've stuck in the field since.
I'm now in the beginning of my second decade of marriage and have two kids and a very understanding wife. A voracious lover of technology, I've always tried to snag whatever new toys that my situation allows (re: understanding wife). It all started back when I was a little kid and my dad would buy me the latest and greatest new toy. Whether it be a Intellivision, ADAM computer or Nintendo ES (I had the one with the stupid gyro robot) I've always had some new whiz-bang to play with. And that childhood obsession continues to today.
Basically, if I got my hands on it, chances are I've taken it apart and put it back together.... looking around in every little nook and cranny with an insatiable urge to discover everything I can about whatever it is sitting in front of me. So whether its diving deep into the world of wakelocks, or removing a sock that has jammed up the turbine of my washing machine...
My first true smartphone was a Samsung Galaxy Stellar, picked up in November of 2012 (not coincidentally the same time I joined Android Central). Up until that point, I admired them from afar, thanks to Verizon's two year contract cycle and high data plan prices. I've since moved to T-Mobile, who wonderfully allowed me to extricate myself from the crushing grip of Big Red back in 2014. I currently own, and very much enjoy, a Google Nexus 6P and I'm the family caretaker of my wife's Galaxy S7 Edge and a pair of ZTE ZMax Pros that are tasked with keeping my kids busy. Between those, three laptops, two Nintendo 3DSs, a pile of gaming consoles and other random assorted bits of technology in my house, I'm often the man behind the curtain, keeping the whole machine running.
For some strange reason, the volunteer staff here asked me to take on a dual role of ambassador AND moderator... maybe they figure they can keep an eye on me better with TWO team leads. Dunno.... but take that as a sign that I know all!02-10-2017 09:51 AMLike 4
