Droid convert could use some advice
Hi all,
Neophyte member here that just switched from an iphone 4s to a droid razor max hd for multiple reasons. I've gone back and forth between apple and motorola, and I could use some advice on how best to maximize my efficiency with my new phone. I'm not a tech guru per se, but I have a better understanding than most iphone users having owned a droidx before. I picked up the droid razor max hd for a few obvious reasons; better battery live, 4g, more memory, higher processing speeds, customization options, and frankly because I like what I've read about the max hd. The only droid I've owned was the X, and it crashed regularly which is why I went back to apple. So far (it's been all of 1 day), I'm loving the razor maxx. I may be in the wrong forum,, but I'm looking for feedback from past iphone users as how to best utilize the advantages that droid offers. My phone is still running ICS, but I'm told an upgrade to JB is coming any day now. What are the differences, and how are they better than what an iphone 5 offers? I don't plan on "rooting" my phone, but I would still like to remain current with the latest offerings to keep current and take advantage of the latest advances. Any advice is appreciated. Beyond customization, what advantages do I have, and how can I best take advantage for both personal and business purposes.
Thanks in advance. - 03-06-2013, 06:15 PM #2

What advantages don't you have!!!
Add widgets. They are great for productivity
Sharing files is a lot easier through texts emails and the whole lot of available programs.
Apps like airdroid and ones that allow you to control your pc with the phone.
Tethering apps (non root ones like pda net and foxfi)
Google now once you get jelly bean which is better than siri
Sd card!!! Hdmi out Web top mode (makes your phone a touch pad like a laptop and full size apps go on your TV screen. It allows for 1080p video streaming too....!!!!
The list goes on and on especially if you root

Check your System Update. I believe JB has already rolled out for the Razr HD and Maxx HD.

Re: Droid convert could use some advice
It has but there have been problems with the OTA. First, try turning on wifi and see if you can get the update that way. If that doesn't work, then connect your phone via USB cable to a Windows computer and see if it automatically downloads the Motorola Device Manager (MDM) and starts the update. If it doesn't, manually install the MDM and get the update that way.

Re: Droid convert could use some advice
I would suggest loading a different launcher from Play. A new launcher is like getting a different User Interface. I use Nova constantly. Widgets are always nice, but as they constantly update, the will draw memory, power and data usage on your device, so keep them to a minimum.
I have noticed a cleaner, more fluid experience from ICS to JB, more options in settings, some settings streamlined and arranged in better places, an overall better experience.
Most carriers release the OTA update in batches over a few weeks. So there may still be some time before you get it.
As for beyond customization, you can download a pop up browser. They are kind of cool. It opens up a smaller window to browse the web while you do something else.
